Both being shipped so I have no pictures, already wondering how to attach it. The rifle is standard, th scope is a Leupold vx3 66490 with a 30mm tube. Also thinking about a bipod for the front. Ideas?

Does your SVT have scope rails and a scope notch?

Pick a different rifle to put a scope on?

Sorry, I don't want to sound like a jerk, but the SVT 40 isn't a rifle that is easily scoped. Doing so would require drilling and tapping the receiver and making a custom mount (or modifying an existing one). As mentioned, if your rifle is an ex-sniper, you could mount one of the repro mounts, but that wouldn't accommodate the scope you have selected.

Never seen this rifle, bought I online. Saw one up close when I bought my Sks is the only experience with it. What of the furniture is necessary to keep the rifle functional?

Also, didn't someone on another similiar thread mention that the SVT receiver walls are too thin drill/tap for a scope mount.

Could be. To be honest, I never put much thought in to it other than thinking how it could be theoretically done. I figure if you want a semi-auto battle rifle with a scope, get an M14.

Bad Idea...... I was going to do the same thing, but ended up getting a Mosin with PU scope.

SVT 40 is harder to scope. Ejecting shells will cause you to lose zero.

How are you going to clean it?

Your scope sounds to nice for this rifle, It doesn't make sense to use an SVT 40 and an 4.5x-14X50mm Scope with a 30mm tube.

What is your purpose of putting this Scope and mount together?

Yes.

The right thing to do here is:
1. Give up on the idea, enjoy the SVT as is so you don't &*@$ up an historic milsurp.
2. Sell it ASAP and get an M14 or some other rifle that will accept your scope.

Most have rails, but not the retaining notch, making even the installation of a PROPER mount and scope very sketchy. Nothing good can come from this project.

To the OP, break out Google, type in SVT40 sniper, look at what the proper scope and mount is, and then ask for this thread to be deleted.

I have a mount for an SVT that I couldn't use because mine doesn't have the rails/grooves to accept it.
If yours does then your welcome to it, mines a B-Square mount.

Can't remember how much I paid for it though... Wasn't much.

there were aftermarket rails for scopes. They connected by the cut in rails on the side of the SVT40. Cumbersome looking but it should work. I have one on a SVT40 with a Burris Fullfield II. I plan on using this for ammo testing.
