Suggestions on .22's

With the larger diameter barrel?? I'm really stoked about this gun now! what sort of sighting system do you have on it?

Yes, it's the bull barrel model.

No optics for me, just plain old stock sights. It's a .22 and the adjustable rear makes it's pretty hard to miss. You'll often hear .22's referred to as tack driver, very easy to shoot.

I shoot .22 because...

1) They are fun to shoot. (A lot of fun)
2) Cheap to shoot.
3) Always good for going back to fundamentals when struggling with higher calibres.

Since you're still in a "holding pattern"...lol, I'd recommend you have a look at the CZ line in 9mm along with the Kadet .22 conversion kit. Two guns for the price of....okay, it's the price of two. ;)

Good set up for a beginner and then you have a 9mm when you're ready. I bought both when I decided to add 9mm to my 1911s. All metal too.

Kadet .22 Conversion Kit

….Saw a video on Youtube where they showed how the takedown is actually easier when the magazine is left in the gun...
actually you have to insert and remove magazine to take it apart;
unless "somehow" you get rid of magazine safety….

Mark III is a great gun (MY opinion); I have competition 7.5' slab barrel version - it is very accurate, grips are for right hand only however;

The Kadet was suggested earlier - it's definitely a nice looking gun. I'm definitely a fan of the tactical designed handguns which is originally why I was trying to decide between the Sig Mosquito and the Walther P22. I started with a form before function attitude - which has quickly changed.

If I'm not mistaken, the Kadet is more expensive than the Ruger MkIII. The CZ is really a good looking gun though. :D

You're right, Leszek. The magazine does come out. I wasn't specific enough in my explanation. They mentioned the initial take-down is easier with the magazine in the gun, however it is removed. Sorry about that.

Personally I wouldn't get the Kadet, not that there's anything wrong with that pistol.

For my money I'd rather pay a little bit more and get a Ruger Mk series and the CZ Shadow (If CZ is your thing) or S&W M&P9 or Glock G17 or M.R./IWI Baby Eagle or Beretta 92FS or or or...:D

MY BAD kps1911, I DIDN'T SEE THE KIT PART!!! I'd still rather have two pistols. For the cost of the kit you can get the Ruger which is one of the better shooting .22's.

.

What was suggested earlier was the "stand alone" Kadet pistol which is .22 only. What i'm suggesting is to get a 9mm CZ75 which can be converted to a .22 via the KADET conversion kit as pictured. Costly? Yes, but IMHO, worth it in the long run. You'd be biting the bullet on a "system".

Same can be accomplished with other makes, such as Glocks and many 1911s. Something to consider.

Ive pretty much decided on the Ruger MK 3... I'll save the more "tactical" looking handgun for my Sig Sauer P226 9mm :D

Everyone loves a SIG...except me :rolleyes:

Are you interested in IPSC production? If you are you may want to look into the CZ Shadow. It will have to be lightened to make IDPA SSP, just so you know.

Looks like I've actually decided to go with the Ruger MKIII despite the "difficult" takedown. Saw a video on Youtube where they showed how the takedown is actually easier when the magazine is left in the gun...

Anyways, the Target model is really nice with the thick barrel (Bull barrel???). Thanks everyone (particularly cadgo) - I wouldn't have even considered had I not asked the question. yeah it's a little more than a lot of the others, but hey...

Thanks again!!!

BTW, Cadgo, Where did you get the image of the Ruger you just posted, I really like how smooth that one looks, which one is that? Is it available in Canada?

Good choice, and you are welcome.

Here's the site for that pistol:
