I have a proposition

Yes, the .338 Imperial is a ballistic clone of the .338 Lapua and recoil is an issue. I have a muzzle brake for this one but was testing my tolerance without the brake this morning as I hope to use it in a 500m F-Class competition where brakes are not allowed. So far so good.

Aubrey... if you do that the KTSA range will never be the same after !
The 500m backstop will be gone.... blown away ! :)

rral22.........personal shots.

Just can't help the personal shots, can you.

One thing I don't have to do, is buy my shooting buddies.

rral22, no personal shot intended there, personal INVITATION to take a break and join the fray, have some fun and meet some new people with same interests. You seem awfully negative, 2 weeks of shooting and loading, telling stories, fishing, hunting bears, a few drinks, bar be ques etc, might give you a whole new outlook and we, as you pointed out, will probably need the manpower (shooter power).
Interested in your thoughts.

Let's all get involved !!!!!!

Gentlemen:

I have read what the detractors have posted and given it due consideration, this may well be a somewhat daunting task. However if all you guys out there would like to post any outstanding loads you have for any of the calibers listed in post #19, it might save some time, powder and bullets. I know some loads are very rifle specific, but if we boil it all down, there may be some loads that are inherently accurate. I tend to use normal weight bullets for caliber not extra light or extra heavy, I load for max velocity with good accuracy. Meaning I'm not interested in 3500 fps loads for 52 gn bullets in 22-250 etc etc etc.
What do you say, let's make this a CGNer experience. Any loads given will be printed out and coallated and if they end up being or leading to a successful load for one of my rifles, I will post a personal thanks to the originator and send you a complete set of photos of the 2 weeks, and I'll owe ya one!!!
I must say, the responses have been heartwarming guys, I knew there was a bunch of guys out there as twisted as myself, who might find this intriuging.

I dont think it would be that hard to get 1/4 MOA for Douglas's rifles here. I bet most if not all the are the best money can buy. I highly doubt you'll see any Remington SPS's or Browning A-Bolts or any Bushnell products.

Cheers!!

And you would be wrong, several SPS's no A bolts or bushnells though.
These are almost all production rifles, only a few customs. Glass is almost all Leupold or Zeiss and a Nikon on the 50. Only 2 heavy bbls, a 22-250 700 Rem Var SS and the custom built 22-284. Sorry no Kimbers or Coopers or Holland + Hollands.
Only Rems, Rugers, Sakos, Steyrs, Wins, old Browning Safari, CZs, Brno, a BSA Monarch in 6.5X55..............and 48 lever Wins.

If I was younger I would be there... what a 'holiday' that would be...

Dennis, you're welcome anytime, any age. Just your expertize and advice would be an asset to the team.

You could sail your yacht up the inside passage to Skagway and I could fly down and pick you up for this Sheutsenfest (I know this spelling is wrong), it could work. Let me know your thoughts.

Twisted??? Oh yeah, .... takes some practice, eh?.
Off the top and brief (off to work at 3.45AM)

6.5x55:
Lapua brass
Fed. 215m primer
Horn. 140 Amax(target, LR lite game hunt), Horn. 140SP(hunt)
47-48.2 R22 powder
.010" jam to .030" off seating

A 1/2 moa proven load. Excellent in the cold. Switch to Br2's and drop .4gr in hot weather, to stay on node.

.375H&H:
Win. brass
Win. WLRM primer
Horn. 270 SP
79-81gr. IMR 4350
.030" off seating, in my 602(doesn't seem to matter much for accuracy, smooth feeding more important)

More to come.

Like I said, hope you do this again a few years down the road. I'll be looking for camper hook-ups in your driveway.

Let me be one of the first to offer a load for your 6x284. Photo shows two 5 shot groups with a Hornady 87gr HPBT @ 3475 fps with 54.0grs/R22. This load always produced 5 shot sub 1/2 moa groups with a very good 28"-1x8.5 match grade MacLennan barrel. You must find your load quickly with this caliber because the chamber throat will burn out in less than 800 rounds. This load is a warm one so approach it with caution.

Noticed some really good targets and loads. Here's one for your 300 Weatherby right from the Nosler reloading manual........

Weatherby Mark V - German Made
84.5 Grains of IMR 7828
180 Grain Nosler Accubond
Federal 215M Primer
Norma Brass
COL. 3.700"

Seems to me that loading and shooting groups for 50 odd rifles in a 2 week period sounds a lot like a full time job.

You'd need to do 5 rifles per day, for 10 days, probably about 8-10 hrs/day to have completely satisfied loads. Then you'd be too tired to play...:p

As much as I'd like to go to the Yukon, I barely have enough time to shoot my own rifles, let alone someone else's...:D

Got 2 shooters so far, cuts the work in half and doubles the extracuriccular activities.

get the new sierra reloading manual, all of the accuracy loads for particular bullet weights, also listed are the hunting bullets and powder loads. Might be worth doing a bit more book research prior to filling this thread up with recipes from what worked for one person in a particualr rifle.

here's a thought - maybe sell some redundant rifles and you'll be able to go shooting. Might even have time to wipe yer own ass too :)
