I'm just curious as to what you guys think is the best province for hunting. Which one offer the best opportunities in terms of game available, season length, tags and licenses cost, etc...

Don't hesitate to explain why.

Thanks for you input.

Depends what you want to hunt and how.

You don't go to Nova Scotia to chase caribou or the Yukon for white tail.

Biggest array of available game?? Would have to say AB or BC.

I only see one province with 4 species of sheep , 3 types of deer , 2 possibly 3 types of moose , not too mention all the other ungulates and carnivores .
I have hunted Alberta , Sask , Manitoba and Ontario but my heart lies in sheep hunting .

B.C. offers the most species of big game to hunt but the waterfowling isn't that great. Alberta used to be my favorite province to visit because it pretty well had it all. Now the population boom from the oil patch has ruined many of the areas where I used to hunt. Every province has it's own special niche, but it's getting harder and harder to find places that don't get a lot of hunting pressure.

I will have to say British Columbia. In Canada many hunters love to hunt the Mountain Goat and grizzly, however; in Alberta opportunities are nil to microscopic. BC also offers other great quality animals that are not so common in other provinces.............stone sheep, couger, BIG bull moose, sika deer, columbian blacktail deer and sea ducks. I rank Alberta second for diversity and opportunity, however; I perfer Saskatchewan for her tremendous trophy whitetail and mule deer. I know that Canadian and Non residence can't hunt the mule deer, but I'm greatful that I can still hunt the whitetail...................draw or no draw and hopefully that they don't come out with the "hunter host" system that Alberta adopted several years back.

That's an easy one. Yukon/NWT/Nunavut. No large cities, no anti-hunters, little hunting pressure and lots of interesting game; Polar bear,Mountain goat, Grizzly, all species of caribou, sheep, moose, walrus, muskox, all kinds of furbearers, great fishing.

I agree, and how did P.E.I. get clumped in with it?

Manitoba.
Moose, bear(black and polar), Elk, Deer(they have whitetail and mulies but not sure if mulies are allowed yet) feral pigs , yotes, ducks, geese, pheasant, grouse etc. You can hunt the open country in the SW and Mountians in the NW and Laurentien shield and tundra up north.

Mule deer, pheasant and Mountains? Where'd you read that? No pheasants, no mountains and our mule deer population is on par with the bigfoot population. ;)

BC of course with Alberta a close second. Yukon and NWT after that for their stupendious scenery, lack of people and the size of the animals that you can persue there in general.
I have never hunted to last two, so this is what the magazines tell me!

Agreed, I can think of at least a half dozen former spots, that now are resident to a pumping station or other oilfield related workplaces.
The upside is someone else is making a living out there.
