Why are ARs restriceted?

The guns that were initially prohibited were prohibited because they appeared in the Gun Digest Book of Assault Weapons (no I'm not joking) and they were prohib based on appearance. Looks scary, gets prohib. The AR was initially going to be a prohibited firearm, the argument that was used to justify the prohibition was "no legitimate sporting use". Then the anti-gun crowd had to face one of the oldest sporting organizations in the country with a straight face and tell them that they weren't legitimate (DCRA). The antis settled for restricting the AR15 - if they hadn't been backed down by the DCRA the AR would have been prohibited.

As far as concealed carry goes, do you feel better if a drunk 6 foot 6 inch 250 lb bodybuilder with a baseball bat approaches you, because if you're not carrying a gun, he's going to make you his b*tch. Unless of course you don't mind that kind of thing happening to you, or your wife or your daughter.

Why is Wendy a fat #####?

Why are "modern" leftists more inclined to protect gov employees, welfare abusers, criminals, rather than hard working citizens? :puke:

So many questions, so few answers...

Roost,
It makes no sense.
If the govt trusts us enought to issue a handgun permit then they should trust us with handguns. Pretty simple.

Why are they restricted? Because they are, any further questions? Speak to your MP, you voted for him right?

Been a long time, :D so correct me if I'm wrong. Had the booklet for years and finally through it out. Apparently, at one time they were considering a point system, to decide into which category a firearm fell. A gun got points awarded for things like a pistol grip, folding stock, detachable magazine and a few other items. One of those stupid Lieberal things.

There really is only one answer, FEAR.

Governments will ALWAYS be overbearing unless they fear the people (today its the other way around).

The AR is a lightweight, low recoil, easy to point weapon that even girls can handle. If everyone were "allowed" to have a loaded AR in their truck window rack the police and politicians would have to be A LOT more polite ....

Everything else is debating bull####.

All i know is i feel alot better walking down the street knowing that nobody is packing a concealed firearm, guess i just dont trust strangers. another thing to think about is if concealable firearms were easy to purchase, most likely there would be more criminal transaction of these weapons, its easy to file off the serial number and report a weapon stolen

sorry getting a little off topic

Hmmm...Ever walk around West Edmonton Mall. You know some of those little thuggies hanging around. Well, I was speaking to a Police Officer friend of mine. You would be surprised regarding how many of those little "innocent" darlings are packing some kind of weapon with bullets. Last week, there is a trial going on where a druggie pulled a concealed sawed off .22 and up and killed a lady in a transit station. Also in Edmonton, ever jump on the LRT and head past the Coliseum station? Scarey stuff there.

I would love to be able to have that little bit of protection...but only after I was trained properly in how to get out of trouble without having to resort to deadly force.
