$240 Mossberg 590 at WSS!

What horrible customer service. I called 3 times and was on hold for so long that the answering machine cut in. That made up my mind right there to NEVER shop at Wholesale Sports again. I should have known better, I stood at the gun counter at the Kamloops store for 40 minutes and was studiously ignored by the staff until I walked out.

Finally got through, nice folks when you get them! I ordered 2!!! Not even sure why. They arn't sure they can get them but will try 6 ahead of me so crossing my fingers shipping was cheap and 2 shotties (if they come) $590. all in!
If this happens its a great deal! Thanks again for posting!
P.S. One of these ae the wifes birthday present! :0)

Ok, all you guys who got one, lets see them ,we need some video's of these things blasting away! I googled some info and they look pretty solid and impressive.I hope they can find one for me,,the next few week will tell!
What kinda cool stuff can we buy for these and what model barrels/stocks and such will fit!
I was about to get a 500 combo, but now will wait to see if I got lucky,,,gun wise!

One is never enough...

I moved over some parts from my Security 88 and installed the pistol grip on it. I plan on setting up the 590-lites for deer hunting. There are many places around here that don't allow high-power rifle or where a slug would be much safer.

ATI makes a pretty good stock kit for $140. I would like to change the stock and pump to a set of wood ones from the 500AB that I sold (yes - I will re-finish black - maybe Duracoat). I just need a Mossberg stock bolt and a special tool to remove the pump. The mag tube seems to be on pretty tight - it might even be glued...

I ordered a Blackhawk SpecOps Stock with adjustable LOP and Recoil reduction and a Tac Star side saddle for mine. Just have to decide on a sling and I'm done.

RACKMAN

I just had a 590A1 sitting next to this so called 590 for 240.00.... Just so everyone know's, your not getting a 590... 590's have 590 stamped on the action, these ones don't! They have a bead sight and the barrel is very thin... Its not a true 590 barrel... They just took a 590 action and put a 500 grade barrel and a shroud on it. For those of us who have held a 590, these are not the 590 you are expecting.

SOOO are you saying they are not worth $240.? Also just looking at the silver lining in what you are saying ,will the barrels from model 500, 535 and 590 , interchange? Also what makes a 590 action different than a 500, we pay more for it so I am assuming it is beefier or better in some way, although from what I hear ,the 500 is already awesome . I might have to order the 500 on sale too! Are the stocks interchangeable also?

I'm saying that they are marketing it as a 590... And it its stamped a 590... And it may be a 590'ish looking version of the original... But its a cheapend version. Its not as heavy of a gun. All I mean is that I had an original 590 and this 590 side by side and its not as good a gun... If I ordered a 590 and got one of these... I'd be choked. Its a 590 with a 500 grade barrel and a cheap pistol grip. Let's just call it what it is...... A 299.00 version of a 500.00 gun that's on sale for 240.00. Is it a good deal, sure. Did I buy one... Nope... In the end, its not the 590 I'm used too.

There are basically three different models. The 500, 590 Special Purpose, and the 590A1. They all have the same internals.

The 500 has a closed ended 5 or 8 shot mag. tube, plastic trigger guard, plastic safety, and a thin walled blue or matte 18.5" or 20" barrel.

The 590SP has a capped 8 shot mag. tube, comes in only a 20" thin walled barrel version, and has the same finish as the 500.

The 590A1 has a metal trigger guard and safety, capped 5 or 8 shot mag. tube, and a 14" (if you can find one), 18.5" or 20" parkerized heavy walled barrel.

For whatever reason, there seem to be two exceptions to the metal trigger guard and heavy walled barrel with the 590SP, and the Blackwater has an 18.5" barrel but still has a 590 type mag. tube.

Barrels are not interchangeable between the 500 and 590.

There you go, clear as mud?

Cool, thanks for the info. I'm gonna beat on it and see how it holds up. I've made worse purchases for $240

590sp and 590a1 also have a bayonet lug, 500 doesnt

The 590a1 at wholesale didn't have a lug... But the 240.00 gun did... Also, I was just at a certain gun range at a certain large mall in west edmonton... Thay wanted 429.00 for it. Good lord what a rip... But they also wanted 49.00 for a remy 1911 mag and 45.00 for a box of ae 10mm... I was totally shocked and I just walked out.

P.S... Keep in mind the regular price at wholesale on this gun is 299.00
