I would have thought the recoil would have been worse due to the fact you are focusing the energy straight in front you, the shooter.

I think I'll throw a XB1 on for hunting season with hot heavy loads I thought the concussion had knocked my fillings out.

You could use heat tape like the target/400lb range sniper guys do. I can't really see how brass dribbling out of the end could do much in the way of damage. If all else fails you could lube the s**t out of it with G96. it will help the brass slide off your barrel.

Mine is a hunting rifle, like many on here, and as such with most of my rifles.....it's already been dropped. I fully expect to fall/land on/smash into trees/drown and drop mine this fall. :p
 
This year I hope to take a decent sized black bear with the RFB. Also my RFB has been absolutely flawless with Thermold polymer magazines. I might have to order some more. I too went with a brake, and might try the pbr thing with and xb1 or perhaps a custom claymore?

I've got a battlecomp on it now and it's great for recoil and muzzle jump, it's unbelievably loud. It makes #### fall off the roof at the range.

You should try the kel-tec one its great for recoil , lound, but no louder then my cz 858 with its heavy break.
 
We should all order some more mags soon, my other supplier in the states no longer ships to individuals due to some new stupid regulations and fees that are being charged by the government for the export permits.
I'll contact you know who soon and see if they can still send them north of the border.
I sure hope we didn't lose another supply line because of the governments meddling.

We're still shipping to Canada. We are in the process of setting up a wearhouse in BC so we'll be shipping from within Canada in a few months. But for now, we're hanging in and still shipping from Florida. So go ahead and order. It won't be a problem.

Sorry, if the answer has been said, but what supplier ? I need some polymer mags for my RFB
 
Does anyone know if there are any decent smiths in New Brunswick that thread. I really like the looks of that XB1 and the idea of directing noise away from my already damaging hearing.
 
The issue with threading an rfb bbl is that you either have to have a really good jig and 4-jaw setup. or you have to dismount the bbl from the barrel extension, but that requires special tools that most gunsmiths don't have (yes, I've done this - not easy and not profitable).

Dlask has a special 4-jaw chuck jig that grips the barrel extension as I understand it, and the muzzle is in a steady rest when they thread. They are probably the wisest choice for having this done as Vault also uses them for the DS models.

Be aware your warranty will be totally voided, not just on the bbl.
 
I love my RFB, but man oh man it burns my a$$ that Kel-Tec won't allow ANYONE, not even Dlask (who did the DS model threading) to thread our RFB's... ARGH!

Epoxy7 asked me to add this experience to this post which I wrote about in another post:

I thought I would pass along my experience in case others are having same issue.

I was having a vertical stringing issue - up to 6 inches, and almost always on first shot out of magazine but also sometimes throughout the string. The normal pattern was first shot 6 inches high and following 2 were touching at 100 yards.

I was loading 45, 45.5 and 46 grains of varget, using 165 gr hornady interbonds or SST's. The interbonds were set at and OAL of 2.8 but I seated the SST's to the crimp ring 2.763 (only loaded 3 as I want to hunt with interbonds). With the interbonds I was having same issue I had with factory ammo, large vertical stringing. Then at end of my frustrating session I took out the SST's and fired all three as fast as I could while still aiming somewhat and to my surprise all three were in a nice 1 inch group. Only real difference was OAL of 2.763.

Back to the bench loaded up 45.5 grains of varget case length of 2.005 and OAL of 2.785 and 2.775. And the results are with the 2.785 - same vertical stringing but only about 3 to 4 inch too high first shot. For the 2.775 the 4 shot group (first from mag included) was 1 and 1/8 inch. And I repeated that 3 more times. After those 3 sucessful strings I tried one last string with the rounds set to 2.785 OAL and stringing was back.

So for my gun the OAL of 2.775 is the solution, not sure why as I checked the length of my chamber and it is 2.87 so 2.8 should have been no issue but it is for some reason.

On a side note we found 43.4 of varget also reduced verticle stringing. I'm looking forward to trying this with the OAL you had sucess with.
