MAC-10s and Cobrays

Mac 10 fires much faster than an Uzi. It's an awesome compact package of firepower. Definately has a different tactical role than an uzi. If you wanted something small and deadly to pull out of your jacket and eliminate a would be assasin (at close range), the Mac 10 would be it.

I can't find any confirmation the US Secret service actually used Ingram Mac 10's. Maybe that's just Hollywood stories. One article says the Mac 10 is only suitable for combat within a phone booth. Oh well, it was fun to fire.

I fired one in the desert by Farmington, New Mexico several years ago. It was owned by a rich old bugger that made a fortune from oil. He's a friend of a friend. They share a hobby that has nothing to do with guns, he just happens to own a bunch.
It was a lot of fun. Sure emptied a 30 round mag quickly.
When I was in that Machine Gun Store in Vegas I was told that a MAC-10 was the cheapest way to break into the "pre-86-transferable-machine-gun" ownership world at $5000 to buy one (if you're an american citizen).
I own a Phoenix BXP, but that's a far cry from a MAC-10.

They are loads of fun in FA. The term "bullet hose" certainly applies.

I have fired a few different ones in both 9mm and 45. They are really cool to shoot suppressed because like most open bolt subguns they are very quiet. I even got to shoot an original powder springs MAC10 with an original Sionics suppressor which was very cool.

Considering the nature of the MAC series and difficulty in controlling them in full auto mode, I think a sten mark II would be a better choice if you want a crude SMG.

$5k for a Mac? That's waaaaay high. They can be found for $3-3500 pretty easily.

There are a couple around here, a few buddies of mine have some.

They're really pointless to shoot. Way too high ROF.

I'd take an UZI over them any day.

Many years ago I fired one of the first Ingrams into Canada . A friend of mine bought it. What he told me was that 3 came in for evaluation, a .45ACP, a 9MM and a .380. The first 2 were sold and he could only buy the remaining one, the .380.
We took it out & fired it a few times. I remember there were 2 distinct sounds. The full mag going through the gun followed by the sound of 30 empty cases hitting the ground. I think that the cyclic rate was about 1,100 RPM.

If it is Chuck Norris approved, you know it's one awesome gun.

not secret service, but the "company" - mac 10 was developed so f/as could have a bit more firepower and still be able to wear suits- to get a scope as to how the system worked back in the day, look up a rig called the mac-scatter- and the suppressor balanced the weapon- after it was deployed, word came back from the field that it was a jam-o-matic- as for the uzi, it's been used by a number of agencies including the secret service , the company, and seals- far superior in terms of reliability, but not nearly as concealable; as far as the confiscation goes, it seemed to vary from province to province; mine was sent to rcmp lab in edmonton, tested and PROVED to fire semi-automatic only after the modification was made( this involved welding a big washer to the take-down pin so you couldn't remove it) - i have a letter to that effect- and RETURNED TO ME after about a year and a half- had your relatives filed a 'SHOW CAUSE" motion with the court , ( as dat and i did ) the judge would have found NO JUST CAUSE and returned your property; the police and cfc used a lot of THREATS AND IGNORANCE of the law to get people to go the route you did; not everybody stood up and fought

Yup, the urban ambush is over:ar15:,.... you've protected your VIPThk, ......and you're just lighting a nervous cigarette:onCrack:, ..when your brass start's to hit the floor.

With .45ACP at 1200RPM, that's a bad guy torso hit every 1/20th of a second. She may climb a little if you're of balance a little, but what the hell there's probably 8-12 hits anyway on the way up!:owned:

Need we say more on it's designed role. Ambush removal tool.

A general purpose combat SMG for Military or Police, with controllable F/A for entry, or street engagements out to 100 meters+ on S/A,... they are not.

Also they were the exotic cool SMG's;)a lot of bad guys carried on TV shows in the 70's with their Sionics mounted for trouble.:)

I love the look of them with their suppressors.
