I am looking at getting into CQB and need to get a chest rig. I don't mind spending a bit of money, but I also don't need the best money can buy,as it will not be used everyday. Any thoughts on who and where to go. Thanks.

Sealsactiongear.com is good.... I think they're in calgary... And they've got lots of blackhawk stuff, just got the recon harness, so far fits nice, just didn't like the pouches I got... Going to the hsgi taco pouches

MAV here as well.

Lots of configurations available where you can buy a complete rig or piece your own together.

For CQB... I would not go for a chest rig... it's over kill.

IMO, a "Sure-Grip Padded Belt" would be the way to go. If you purchase the correct size, it could be placed over whatever you are wearing.

You can mount your magazine pouches on it as well as a leg holster.

A chest rig would be better suited for Service Rifle, wear you need to *run* with your ammo (not simply have your ammo can a few metres behind the firing line).

That said, it is whatever works for you ;)

The Service CQB in Ontario requires some running. You don't have the luxury of leaving all your ammo 10m away for the whole course of fire. Ideally, it needs to be on you and ready, as some of the advancing fire matches involve moving forward more than once.

x2 The Mav is the only way to fly. Split front with X-Harness.

SKD Tactical is another good sight that ships to Canada but I would go to DS Tactical first.

MAV & X-Harness does look pretty damn sweet, head and shoulders above the Condor chest rig I have. Plus DS offers 10% discount for CGN members.

I did not find myself in need of a chest rig while attending the Service CQB in Ontario... but others may have different oppinion.

We go from the 500 yard down to the butts, etc., in Service Rifle... and that makes ammo 10m away almost like having it on your person.

For example, I use a 2 quart pouch to carry my match ammo in for Service Rifle and never had such a requirement in Service CQB. That is to say, the entire day's load out is carried on my person in Service Rifle, while only the load out required to perform the match is carried on me in Service CQB (there is an opportunity to load up for the next match during the relay rotation).

Having both... provides the most flexibility :)
