Westrifle - Over a yr ago I bought an SVT-40 from these guys. Unfortunately the beautiful stock got snapped in two by CanadaPost. I called - no problem getting a replacement of my choice. And within a day or two one the owners DROVE THE NEW RIFLE OVER TO MY HOUSE!

Several mths later, I bought a really nice Mosin-Nagant from them (octagonal receiver) and b/c of the SVT issue before, one of the guys DROVE THE RIFLE OVER TO MY HOUSE!

Yesterday, I bought a Tapco stock off their website and 15 minutes later I get an email from Canada Post saying that a shipping order is in. And it's on it's way over today.

Now that's good service...and deserving of a "props" post.

Oh, you mean "shilling". LOL!
Nope, just a satisfied customer in Vancouver who think these guys deserve some good press.

Questar, ReliableGun and Frontierfirearms have been good to me too, but this was truly "above and beyond" type stuff.

Sincerely,

Westrifle,,top notch in my books,,hope they get more stock in soon gotta get a couple russian rifles for my boys ,don't know which ones yet ,they get to pick!
Any suggestions,mosin,,ex sniper, hex,svt,sks,,etc.

I would say that SVTs are THE most beautiful rifles to collect...but, not particularly to shoot. Do your internet research and hunt around for the best examples. Snipers are, by far, the most rare. The two-baffle (vs. 6) rifles are later built, and some say not as nicely finished, but I can't say that I've seen that. And take note of the stock diff: the earlier thinner vs. the AVT stock which is thicker vs. the "Naval AVT stock" with the brass lined sling slot. These are fairly rare too.

The Russian SKS is a beast. My two have never failed. They aren't the most accurate, but they are incredibly robust and reliable. And they look tres cool. I shoot one of them all of the time - tons of fun. The other is too pretty with it's blonde, tiger-striped stock, so it's swaddled in my safe. If you want a shooter, you can't really go wrong w/ an SKS.

I have a nice 1933 Mosin (hex). It's beautiful and accurate...and kicks like a mule. I don't really shoot it that much. The WW2 era, round receiver examples are not finished as nicely, but still tough as nails. Again, for the money, these are great guns.

Good luck!

An SVT40 would be nice...I like the Mosin ex sniper too. From what I've heard, both are more powerful and more accurate than the SKS, but it depends on what they want to use it for.

Indeed. The 7.62X54 (vs. 7.62X39) is one helluva round. The Mosin's can really smash into your shoulder. The SVT is a bit kinder...and a beautifully balanced rifle (god I love 'em!)

Whoa 6! You're an expert on this stuff then. But it sounds like you need an SVT in your collection my friend

You might like the SVT section at mosinnagant.net

I need a SVT-40! Maybe LGR's gone rifle buy. I bought two 91/30's from WR for Xmas and am very pleased with them, shipped fast as well. No problems dealing with Westrifle here.
