New RFB owner, initial report. Long read (PICS ADDED)

It is a GEN 2 unit. Not sure what the coating on the bolt actually is.
Not sure what I am going to put on it. More than likely either a Vortex Viper PST 1x4-24 or a Sightron 1-7x24 both have 30mm tubes and will work with the Burris Pepper QD mount I just got in today. I have to build the budget back up at bit before I can. I am hoping by the end of the month then I can get something better than what I have there now (a bushnell I got as a gift).
I have to hit the post office because I also think my Voodoo Tactical 2 gun soft case also came in.

I did look at those when I was on the Burris site looking for the PEPR mounts but I want something that is 1x or close to no magnification as well as 4 or better. I am sure they are a nice optic but the 3x fixed doesn't work for me. I want as large a site picture as possible only with 1x.
I tend to be a bit of a snap shooter and put rounds on target fast but I like to keep both eyes open to try and stay aware of my suroundings, I am curious to see if the RFB will work for me and the way I shoot and I think it will being a very short and easy to swing rifle.
The plan right now is to keep this as a heavy hitting short range rifle (up to 300m) and nothing more. I have plans for selling my other hunting rifle (7mm) and getting something else for the long range shots I am used to in the praries but that is down the road. I don't really have a need for this type of rifle here in NB as I haven't found an area where I can really use it. Most of the terrain here is heavy brush with very limited openings.

I only wish that the soft case manufacturers would put something better in place for locking the zippers closed. Something like the ones on my laptop bag with an eyelet attached to each zipper so it could be locked more securely would be nice. Locking the pull strings together doesn't really secure much if your going to transport restricteds to the range. I'm not even sure it is legal to use with restricted firearms.
Yes I picked it up yesterday and it is a nice case for the price. I got the 36" version and yes the empty space is for the KSG I have on order as well. I am really hoping that I can get in on the first shipment but I am guessing I will be waiting for a while.
I should call Wanstalls and find out how far down the list I am.
Hopefully they start coming in soon. I haven't bought a gun for a month

Also got 2 extra mag pouches for it, I got the one in Olive Drab.
I like the pockets and pouches in the center section as well.
Has held up to a couple years worth of range trips with my M14 and AR180B and now carries the AR's. Seems well made.
I got my Voodoo Tactical case on Ebay also. I also got my PEPR mount on Ebay as well. I couldn't believe how fast they got here either. Bonus was they both shipped USPS so no brokerage fees or duty when I picked it up.

your gonna need lots of mags just think if there are 30 plus rounds in a course of fire how many reloads your gonna have to do...
been there done that now i stick with an ar (10rnd mags) for 3 gunning. the rfb is for hunting and generally just having fun shooting from close to far

Thanks I never even considered that part. I am not ever sure where in the region they have 3 gun matches but I will be doing my homework shortly once I have the 3 guns I want. RFB, KSG, and still trying to decide on a pistol but I am leaning towards a SIG226.
I have never done 3 gun yet but very interested in trying it out and seeing if I can improve/refine my shooting style. I just want to round off my shooting abilities with all classes (rifle/shotgun/pistol).
It sucks when your used to 30rd mags at work then have to go to 5. There should be allowances for "Range Use Only" for mag limit, I guess I will have to work on my reload drills if I am even going to have a chance. The 5 round mag that my RFB came with will be used I need 20 round mags with pull tabs on the base plate.
