So you say... but they got my kids out shooting, and inspired them to take their Pal certification, and my son to join the gun club... with HIS OWN money... so I love these guns!!!!
Good on you! :D

Who cares what we think? Johnn and I are just a couple of old Fudds anyways. ;)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking them or the style. Each to their own. I was merely expressing the opinion that it wasn't the style of firearm I'd be willing to spend money on:). :eek:Super Cub has let cat out of the bag so now you know I'm from the 'pre-metric era', just clicked the big 65 actually and as such tend to lean towards the more traditional styles.

Glad to hear the kids enjoy them and are showing the enthusiasm to get responsibly involved in the sport. Well done Dad:).

I guess you can say I'm really into the short/light T/C Contender carbines I now have 3 stainless steel Gen 1 frames and as of yesterday morning 1 stainless steel G2 frame and 10 barrels here are a couple of pics of some of the game they have taken.

3X3 coastal blacktail buck 22" T/C Custom Shop barrel in 45-70 loaded with 325gr FTX @ 1850fps shot was 35 yards.

Coyote 21" factory tapered s/s 223 loaded with 40gr V-Max spotted this little fellow @ 600 yards blew my Ki-Yi call a few time then watched the show shot was 40 yards.

My guy when he was 3 1/2 16.5" 22LR loaded with CCI SGB's no he did not shoot it he was my retriever he tried to shoot it but his aim was/is still so bad that he couldn't hit it.

I shot a 6' + black bear I do not have a pic but I used this combo 375JDJ 260gr Accubonds @ 2300fps shot was 90 yards dropped it instantly it moved so I put another one into it.

Got this little guy with my 21" s/s was a 30-30 rechambered to 308Bellm = 444 Marlin brass necked down with 308 Win dies = 150gr Rem Core Lok's .314 BC @ 2620fps shot was 205 - 210 yards.

Great collection of pictures CC, especially the shot of a proud little guy and the bird....kids memories are made of this :D

That 6-foot bear would've made a fine picture too I'm sure! I haven't killed anything with my Marlin 336 yet, but can't wait to do one soon!

Here are a couple more for you... :D

308Bellm again same load shot was 90 yards whle he was trailing a doe that was appr 15 yards in front of him.

375 JDJ same load as the black bear shot was appr 80 yards as he was running thru thick bush.

I have coffee with him and a few others on a fairly regular basis so I'll see what he has for sale, if anything. I think he's still in an 'accumulation' mode but I will ask. We both have an 8 3/8" model of the S&W 500 and I see he had his up for sale at the last gun show in Duncan. That suprised me but the reason? He has recently acquired a SS barrel in 500 S&W for his Contender carbine.

A Contender will not handle the pressures of a 500S&W he must have an Encore or Prohunter.

If that is the case I am looking at getting into the world of Encores/Prohunters as well = I am interested in getting a good deal on a stainless steel Encore in 375JDJ or 375H&H.

I don't even need the stocks I will be ordering a black/gray laminate stock set from either Boyds or GunStocksInc and I will be shortening the barrel to 20" - 22".

:)
