IPSC AB scores are posted within 24 hours of the match and generally waaay closer to 12 hours. We have a great stats crew and we all love them!

How many matches in a year IPSC AB has?

For comparison IPSC ON run 190 matches in 2011 (81 - L1, 35 - L2, 3 - L3), including 3 shotgun matches.

We are asking to much from volunteers, charge more for matches so people cam be paid and help can be hired. When you charge money and turn a profit for a club that becomes a business. I don,t see a problem with that. Treat it like a business and competition will develop, always depending on volunteers is a tough way to advance a sport.

Really? And how much do you propose we charge to cover getting scores out a couple days sooner?

How many members do you have compared to us? we have about 1 per month in the winter and 2 per month in the summer plus provincials. I'm sure that we have far less membership than you guys hence why we have less matches.

The Level 1 matches that are part of different clubs weekly league nights do not count toward provincial standings and scores are read a the end of the night.

What every it takes to get the job done. Seeing how much time and effort our our MD puts into matches, I would have no problem paying someone to take this task away from him if it would help

So instead of helping out you'd rather just raise the cost for everybody else, nice.

The point is no one will help. As one of the two guys who sets up every match at our club we both put in around 130hrs each last year give or take, I am not complaining I got involved so I would better understand the game but I do not know how long we can both continue to be volunteers without help. I could be selfish and just use the time to practice instead but I am afraid that would be the end of IPSC at our club as our MD can’t do it all himself. I am not looking for compensation neither is our MD but I would gladly see a increase by a few dollars to pay for some outside help so we can continue to put on these matches and not put all the burden on our MD.

How about spend that time to encourage other member to come and help out, show them how to set up matches, paint targets, locate targets for safe angles, score, do results etc. maybe we all need to spend some time encouraging others to help out. Help change te attitudes. When I go out to shoot with the ORA at Borden everyone goes knowing that they will be expected to help set up, run the match (score, act as a safety officer, patch, pull targets in the butts) tear down, police brass and rake the back stop. Nobody shows up expecting to just shoot and leave.

A $50 for 1..1.5 hours of work is a reasonable fee IMHO. With 50..60 competitors at the match it would be a buck or two raise. Not that much of a price for getting results faster for everyone and you'd free up your own time. Personally I don't see a problem with that.

I am starting to think that Mike pretty much nailed it down. Counting too much on a free help does not exactly working in Canada...

I'd rather wait a couple days then pay someone to do something that should be done to help out in a VOLUNTEER sport.

We have tried, every club meeting we ask for help as IPSC benefits our club. We have a very small group who shoot or care about IPSC. I have heard this from other clubs as well ,so it’s time to pay for help.

Why would you make your competitors wait and who said it has to be volunteer sport? If quality of matches can be raised by going commercial it would only make it all better to everyone.

No, make it commercial and you'll start seeing less quality for more money so that clubs can turn bigger profits. We're alreadys seeing higher match fees with lower quality stages.

Maybe so, but with more clubs doing it and people running them making some profit, we could see better matches, so people won't be attending the lousy ones... The bigger problem is that most of the local clubs are privately held and they somehow don't like for-profit events.

I agree, but people would like faster result times, so in order to accomplish this without having the MD,s complete this at the end of a long day, I would rather pay someone to do it. Keep pushing MD, s and you will not have VOLUNTEERS left for this sport.

wow...this is a ####ty poll. Great way of thanking volunteers and clubs for holding matches. IF you don't like it, don't go. On the other hand...volunteer to do the stats. I have never done the stats except once and helped out other times. It is a PITA. I hate it more than picking up brass. Thankfully we have volunteers who do that locally,..and we usually comp their match fee. (the very least for volunteering to do the scores,..which is a PITA) Unless someone has a physical ailment,,,everyone helps.

That's great. My last contract was $125 per hour or part thereof. Will we contract to do the work by the match or for the season ?? Will we write the coffee and lunch breaks into the contract ??

I don't mind doing the scores but I'm not sure where the 1-1.5 hour figure comes from. At a level II with over 700 score sheets to total, verify and enter not to mention set up and importing of the shooters it takes a lot longer than 1.5 hours.
