My budget precision rifle FIRST F-CLASS EVENT !

Hi all

After a long winter that I spent working on a lot of projects except my own, yesterday I decided to continue this project.

I installed the barrel. Removal was not good, I ended up with a stock Axis barrel with mechanical vise trace all over it, and a stuck barrel nut.

The barrel is from a Savage 12VLP in 223, with a 1:7 twist

Next I started the preparation for the pillar bedding.

For now I am bedding only this single shot stock. During my time off, I made a stock that accept the mag, maybe I'll bed it later. I'll take it when I go ground-hod hunting, or if I try the coyote next winter.

Next will be the Devcon bedding itself, and the scope base install.

I'll try it with the Varmint Winchester 45 grains this weekend (40 round box at Walmart), and I ordered some 80 grain Berger VLD and 60 grains Berger Varmint from Mystic.

I will probably go with Varget or the new CFE223 powder.

Bedding is done, tonight I,ll remove the action and clean it.

I chose to bed the first couple of inches around the chamber, I left the recoil-lug area alone, and I bedded the rear

I also re-bedded the front of my Lee Enfield. I had done the action and the front, however the pressure was not really what I wanted, so I added a bit. I put a screw under the barrel to give it the desired pressure

Hope you like it !

Where did you find devcon? I have been looking for a week or so and am just about fed up enough to go with JB weld instead.

Looks fantastic, should be interesting to see how it shoots with the 80's

A very nice job on this one. Those inexpensive Savage and Stevens rifles can certainly shoot with the right combination loads.

For 1/4-28 stock bolts, I found some Allen Socket head cap bolts at Acklands.
