Shorten PAL Approval Times

One of my references got a letter saying he needs to call with more info... is this something I need to worry about?

A cautionary tale: I got a bunch of friends (4 of them Women :D ) together to take our PAL/RPAL from a friend of ours who is an instructor. Those of us who got all of our paperwork in, and interviews done properly had our RPALs issued 29 days after our applications were received. I was a ref for one of my buddies, and called my interview in as soon as I had received a message from the CFO (I thought that I had read here that they don't leave messages for references  ). However, his other ref went to Mexico, so missed his call. I convinced my friend to get him to call in ASAP. Well, 50 days since his app was received, it still hasn't been approved. I got him to call in to inquire. The answer that he got was that, even though both references had been interviewed, the delay had caused his application to be put into a different pile, and on the bottom at that. Apparently this pile of paperwork is a slower one, and could take as long as 3 months to complete!!! Now, I'm confident that it won't take that long, but if he had just gotten his ref to call in at the earliest possible time, he'd be out buying like the rest of us..... :(

Waiting...

Completed both courses and exams the second week of March...

I sent in my application (rec'd by MIRAMICHI and signed for on March 28th) for both my PAL and RPAL with a "Exam results to follow upon receipt"

I am still waiting for my test results to be returned to me... I called and they said its at least a 4-6 week wait...

Is there anyway to check when the CFO rec'd my exam results?

Do I now get stuck on the bottom of the pile if they open up my application and see that it is not complete?

I had my exams in the middle of November, and got stamped papers a few days before Christmas.

Depends on how it was sent ;). CFO does not provide this info for tests as I know.

Depends on officer mood, but you have time before Apr. 25.

I passed my test on the 25th of Feb and still no test results. That's just over 6 weeks now. When I called a week and a half ago I was told it'd probably be another 2-3 weeks.

This process will teach you patience, or it'll drive you nuts.

Gotta love when the CFC is open 9-5, the same hours that one of my references works.

I recall seeing an option to select daytime or evening availability. Seeing has how the CFC is open based on your subjective 9 to 5, they've probably got night staff or something to make calls in the evening. Unless their idea of evening is before 5, which might very well be midnight local time.

Well all I can do is keep on waiting I guess...

But 6 weeks (so far) to get a stamped piece of paper back, seems a little excessive... Oh well what's the hurry right?

Wow.. nine weeks to return an exam... I wonder what takes so long?

So, I called the CFO again today.. they did not have too much to say to me other than asking me if I had a court date .. which I again do not, and saying that my file has been flagged for the CFO to review and to call back within 3 weeks If I have not heard anything back by then.. lets hope they contact me before then..

It shows on the RCMP website my file was received Feb 20th

I sent my rpal March 20th via regular post (should have sent registered for peace of mind) and I am still waiting for it to show up online. Is it worth phoning or just wait another week to see if it shows online? I'm in Calgary.

I mailed it on March 26th and it also fails to show online. In Québec, since we can't mail it in ourselves (a police officer must do it), it's impossible to send it registered.

I spoke to an agent on Tuesday and she said to check back in a week and to call back if it didn't show. If we follow what she said and apply it to you, we should thus infer that you're at a point where giving them a call is indicated.

I'm sure the many ninjas of the application from this forum could give us further ideas.

It can be as simple as you having the same name as someone who DOES have a court date. You are subject to CFO review anyway because you're requesting restricted (or did I read that wrong?). Call back next week. Polite and friendly on the phone - these people can bury your papers for months if you're a jerk.

Correct, I did apply for my rpal thanks for the advice.

When I speak to them I am as polite as possible, I will call again next week
If its still the same I'll just wait it out and see.

Yes Audiophile...it's time to start chasing it down.
It should at least show up that they've received it.
Mine didn't show up online for 3 weeks and so I phoned in on a Friday. They said they hadn't received it yet! The next Monday it was registered online as received.
