3 Gun nation 2012 Promo Video

^^
LOL
You gotta do it in style.

Love the fireball at 30 seconds.

Side note, I think we may see those targets at ar15.
Its one of the 3gn tour events
Going to have to make some of them and start practicing.

side note to the side note, what are you guys using for a scope mount?
While I'd love to get a fancy red one like in the video, looking for something to mount my new scope with.

What scope did you get?

It's videos like this that make the itch to shoot harder to scratch. I've been away on course for the past 6 months which means no shooting for 6 months. Should be back home with just enough time to get back into it before the action shooting season really kicks off.

How does that compare to the Larue?
Everyone keeps hyping up the Larue mounts but at the end of the day they're all just machined pieces of aluminum.
I should probably just make my own.

I got the Swaro Z6

At the end of the day, skill doesn't get you camera time.
Its all about the flashy sunglasses and overpriced equipment.

Good thing I'm a mortgage broker. By the end of this year I'll need to take out a second!!!

as long as they're not so cheap to twist or break, aren't any scope mounts that fit and work, just fine ? $170 for the above mentioned ones from brownells going to be better in some real way ?

I never said it was better or worse than other products out there or if it was worth the $170. The original question was which mounts we were using..... not how much or how they compared.
5 years ago, options for 1 piece mounts were limited and Larue was unobtainable (my me).

Was just checking out the video again, trying to learn a few things from the best in the sport, and noticed at the 1:03ish point Matt Burkett does a reload with his finger on the trigger the whole time.
I understand that his segment there was not in competition and was staged for the promo video, but still.

Its also interesting to see the various equipment and how each reacts when fired.
May have actually learned a few things...time to bust out the dremel and get hacking!!!

Just noticed how opened up the loading port is at 0:14....thinking of doing the same to mine, but a little reluctant how much to do

It definitely helps.
I may have to open mine up even more, but need to practice reloads a bit to determine the sweet spot.
If you are going to the Hoser match next month, you can take a look at mine.
Or if you are going to any matches in MI between now and then, let me know.

What reloading method are you planning to use going fwd?

I've been playing with the load two method, but my fingers get bound up in the loading port and it doesn't work well.

There's a company in the states that makes load 2 shell caddies instead of the normal chest rig. But they are pretty pricey at $100 for a 8 round caddy (it kind of looks like 2 4's side by side).

Mostly, I have been practicing weak hand loads off the caddies I have.

Yeah, it takes some coordination so....I don't know if any method other than a mag fed shotgun would work for you....
:)

Opening up the port does get your hand a bit further in line with the mag tube, but your fingers shouldn't be getting bound up in the loading port regardless.

Your hand should be opening up as the shells hit the lifter and you maintain control of the shells by palming/petting them into the mag tube, with your thumb driving them past the shell catch.
If your fingers are getting in the way, your fingers are opening up too late.

And you have to do it in a rapid motion as going too slow will cause things to bind up and the pressure you are using to hold shells against the lifter will relax, leading to fumbles.

Lock your thumb to the base of your index finger, maintain that position, and as I mentioned its like a fast petting motion to drive the shells in.

Its a fast method and easier to be consistent with than the weak hand reload.
Load 8 in sub 5 seconds all day.
weak hand takes more practice than I am able to give it right now.
It definitely has its place though.

Edit: just looked at the video again.
go to 1:00 and look at Pat Kelly doing the load 2 method.
