Yeah, it takes some coordination so....I don't know if any method other than a mag fed shotgun would work for you....
Opening up the port does get your hand a bit further in line with the mag tube, but your fingers shouldn't be getting bound up in the loading port regardless.
Your hand should be opening up as the shells hit the lifter and you maintain control of the shells by palming/petting them into the mag tube, with your thumb driving them past the shell catch.
If your fingers are getting in the way, your fingers are opening up too late.
And you have to do it in a rapid motion as going too slow will cause things to bind up and the pressure you are using to hold shells against the lifter will relax, leading to fumbles.
Lock your thumb to the base of your index finger, maintain that position, and as I mentioned its like a fast petting motion to drive the shells in.
Its a fast method and easier to be consistent with than the weak hand reload.
Load 8 in sub 5 seconds all day.
weak hand takes more practice than I am able to give it right now.
It definitely has its place though.
Edit: just looked at the video again.
go to 1:00 and look at Pat Kelly doing the load 2 method.
