Shorten PAL Approval Times

Yes Audiophile...it's time to start chasing it down.
It should at least show up that they've received it.
Mine didn't show up online for 3 weeks and so I phoned in on a Friday. They said they hadn't received it yet! The next Monday it was registered online as received.

I gave them a call this morning, and I must say the lady I talked to was very nice! She said that from Alberta it usually takes at least a week or more for them to recieve the application via regular Canada post and it is currently taking them 2 to 3 weeks before it is entered in the system. She suggested I check again online in another week and if it does not show up to give them a call back.

I just wish I had sent registered.. just for my own satisfaction, I worry about things getting lost in the mail but I sure it will be just fine. I went to the post office to mail it and the clerk put it on the scale and slapped a regular 61cent stamp on it so Im sure it had the correct postage.

Damn nerves.. I just can't wait to see it online and then I am happy to wait from there, it's just the not knowing that drives me loony!

I'll update as it changes.

I sent mine registered from BC and it took 9 days.

I mailed mine in from BC on Tuesday (April 10th), Canada Post confirmed it was delivered in the wee hours this morning. This is for my RPAL, I am already a PAL holder. I answered yes to a no question (was laid off in the last 2 years) - so we will see how that affects everything. I'll keep everyone posted as to how long it takes.

I was told the same thing this morning, also that they had a higher then usual volume at this period of time.

She told me to check again at the end of next week and to re-send registered next week.

I wonder if these delays have anything to do with the impending doom of the registry for most provinces.

So, I called the CFO again today.. they did not have too much to say to me other than asking me if I had a court date .. which I again do not, and saying that my file has been flagged for the CFO to review and to call back within 3 weeks If I have not heard anything back by then.. lets hope they contact me before then..

It shows on the RCMP website my file was received Feb 20th

ehh? court cases?....I have a bunch of civil court cases going on but those aren't until 2013, theres one that just went through arbitration, none of which I am the defendant. Is that going to hinder my rpal? They show the application was received 03/03 and is in process. I'll call them on monday to follow up now.

My application was received March 22 and it appeared online as "in progress" April 12. It looks like it is taking 3 weeks for applications to appear online at this time.

Processing Times by Province?

From what I understand we are faced with two different and separate time periods for PAL's
1) 28 day waiting period
2) Variable processing times depending on province.

My application for an NRPAL was received on Mar. 5, has anyone in Ontario recently received theirs? How long did it take from receipt of application to issue?
Thanks

PS: Took around 5 weeks to get my CFSC stamped by the CFO and returned.

Took me 5 weeks also for the stamped results. Now I am stuck waiting for CFO approval. It has been already a week =\. Should I call the CFO or is there a known average wait time for Ontario people?

My better half was not in a hurry and the Ontario CFO had her file for 4 weeks. I told her that she better call to see what is happening. She called in last week in the morning and it was approved latter in the afternoon.

The CFO claimed that they are swamped with applications, her's was at a bottom of a deep pile. If you call you MAY get some some attention. Good Luck.

Is this the correct number for the cfo: 1-800-731-4000 Ext 7503 ? Do I just ask for an update on my application's approval?
