Can you give a roll call from the top down to go with this pic??? Some are obvious, some not so much.

It's said that you can take them apart and put them together without tools, and you certainly can for some if not most, but I cannot for the life of me get my trigger assembly back into the rifle without a rubber mallet and a punch. That said, with those tools, it takes me about 10 seconds to do. The lever to remove my gas tube is also extremely stiff, but I can do it with my hands if I wear gloves. Remember, this is my particular rifle (Chinese Military Surplus) and not at all indicative of all SKS rifles. I've had no stoppages/failures of any kind, and it's always a blast to shoot.

Seriously, get one! (or ten) They're easy to clean, extremely reliable and cheap as dirt.

Wow you guys have very nice sks collections. I only have one sks, but it's a keeper.

At their prices now I'll probably buy 2 or 3 others SKS because I'm sure that in 10, 20 or 30 years they'll probably be much more $$$ and hard to find.

I bought this one from Century Montreal in 1994. I always knew that was russian made, because of the Tula star on the left side of receiver but the symbol on the second pic is Iraqi marking. Its like a upside down 2 inside a triangle but mine is not cleanly stamped, miss the triangle but the inverted 2 permited to know about it. I find out here on CGN, a collector from the U.S recognize the mark and told that was Iraqi mark.

I LOVE the SKS, have owned several and shot them plenty, repaired and replaced parts, amazing gun in every aspect. But...

Just acquired my first CZ 858. It is MUCH nicer for so many reasons. Own and enjoy both, but if you like the SKS I will bet you will LOVE the CZ too. The folding stock is amazing. The 858 is everything the SKS wants to be.
