Hi guys, with service rifle no more near Calgary, my hope of getting in some sort of run and gun matches my hopes of shooting my rifle else where but indoor range are starting to melt =(. My question is: Is there matches or runs that require use of a semiauto rifle a round Calgary?

WRAS 3 Gun In Edmonton at Spruce Grove Range

There is also a 3 Gun match in Ponoka on May 5 and 6

Rocky Mountain House also runs 3 Gun matches throughout the year.

The Lethbridge club is likely going to be putting on some sort of service shoot in an effort to make up the short fall on the part of the APRA. Also I know several Alberta shooters will be heading to the big service shoot in BC on the first weekend of June, this is the best shoot in Western Canada usually.

THE OBJECT OF THE A.P.R.A. IS:

1. To promote in every lawful way the interests of small arms marksmanship in the Province of Alberta.

2. Without Restricting the generality of the Foregoing:

a) To promote annual prize meetings for the individuals and teams and to offer prizes for skill in shooting.

b) To encourage the establishment and maintenance of suitable ranges through legislation and private means.

c) To assist in the formation of shooting clubs.

d) To create public interest for the encouragement of small arms shooting both as a sport and as a necessary means of national defense.

Just thought I'd throw this up, (pun intended) for interest sake.:D

APRA at Homestead is still alive and well... no?

That would be fine but there is not a club in the APRA, at this time that does service rifle, the BTSA is hell bent against it, and the full bore guys sure don't do it either. If another club would support it that would be fine with me but they don't.

If you don't mind the 2 hours to Lethbridge we will be putting on a 3gun match again this year. I'm not 100% sure of the date, but it's ALWAYS fun! I'm not sure if we will put on 1 or 2 this year, but there will be 1 for sure!

Also there were a couple of carbine competitons here last year I don't know if there will be more again this year or not, but if I find out I'll try to let you know if I can!

Man it almost makes me want to source some land, and create a NEW and decent outdoor range. As others have said, you could make a killing in a city of this size!

All the long range clubs right now don't even return my emails. I'd like to join somewhere that I can shoot 500 yards plus, but none of the 'clubs' out at homestead will even return my requests.

Guess you need to be part of a secret-squirrel society to get in the door...
