After a some delays by Canada Post (they thought I moved, but I haven't moved in like 9 years), I received this 7.5 pdw from TSE. Thanks to Brian K and Justin, and to that sweet voice at the shipping department. Oh yeah, thanks to NEA for finally getting one out to me.
I just had the chance to open the box yesterday, and fit in the gucci gear that I had kicking around. I haven't had the chance to shoot it, since I've been nursing back to health from some tropical disease I caught in west africa, not to mention my two week old preemee infant daughter who came out almost as soon as I made it to the hospital to see her.
In anycase, I can't say too much about it, in all honesty, because it's an AR. I have used several, and own a few, and well, it's an AR. It's not a magic wand that will make supersized holes in the A box, but I think it's a well built AR for the price point. All of the key features that NEA has listed for their rifles, I am sure, do contribute to the long lasting effectiveness and life of the rifle, but I will still maintain the normal maintenance schedules...
My wife did say she was disappointed it doesn't smell like gun oil yet. So I had to detailed stripped her down, and lubed her up - the gun I mean. then reassembled. When mounting and tighteninng that rail thingy, I was advised by the TSE gunsmith to just attach something that straddles both the upper and the railed handguard. that way, as I tighten each side equally, there won't be any shifting of the rail piece. Function tests just fine. I kinda like that click into the auto mode. =)
I've only really had a cutdown AK as a PDW, and they were just shoestring two-point slings. so I'm not sure whether I will use a twopoint like I have attached now, or a single point. I guess it doesnt matter for another 6 months, because it'll just be a range gun until I go back to work, then i"l just take the upper with me =) =).
