The Buffalo Target Shooters Association (BTSA) is very pleased to be hosting the 2012 IPSC Alberta Provincial Championship The BTSA is primarily a handgun club, based in Calgary, and is a member group of the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association (APRA). Indeed it is a privilege to work with IPSC Alberta and to showcase what we think will be one of the province's premier shooting facilities. We believe when you see and shoot it - you will agree.

As of this posting we are accepting applications for the 2012 IPSC Alberta Provincials. We have room for the first 150 competitors. A Match Shirt will be available – make note of that on your application. As always, if you would like to help with any part of the staging of this event, please contact the BTSA and let your wishes be known. You can use the attached link to access the application forms. The Buffalo Target Shooters Association (BTSA) is pleased to host the 2012 IPSC Provincials – June 30th & July 01st. As you may know, the IPSC crowd in Lethbridge have been facing some challenges of late – none of them of their own making. When it became clear that their original plans to stage the Provincials became untenable, the BTSA stepped in with our offer to host the match.

You might (rightfully) question – just who are we since we have not staged a single IPSC event to date. BTSA is an affiliate of the Alberta Pistol and Rifle Association who have operated the Sibbald Range complex 35 km west of Calgary for a good many years. The BTSA has provided an outdoors ‘Holster Night’ event for the past 6 years, and have been quite active within the APRA at initiating the many recent advances in the Sibbald complex. Given the numerous challenges facing Olds, Lethbridge and few other ranges in and around the Calgary area, we thought some bold action was required to ensure we all have a place to shoot in the future.

As such, we pushed in five new pistol bays to augment our two existing bays. Remembering with some fondness one of the Canmore Range’s finer attributes, we took the liberty of building our own ‘Jungle Run’. Within the BTSA’s Holster events we have focused most of our interest around mainly IPSC style stages, while sending a number of our shooters to IPSC Alberta. Let there be no confusion – hosting the AB Provincials is a challenge; but we would not have offered to do so had we had any doubt that the BTSA could provide a well-organized, challenging and safe event, for all levels of competitors. Oh yes – we want you to have fun too !

You will quickly note the $150 event fee. Frankly we don’t like it one bit – however, hosting the event over the July 1st long weekend without much advance notice meant we had little ‘bargaining’ power with our suppliers, especially on the banquet and meeting room costs. Further, this is Calgary where prices are higher than elsewhere in the Province. Sorry : it’s just the way it is. The Match Hotel will be the Best Western in Calgary’s Motel Village. The location offers easy access to Highway #1 leading to the Range, as well as convenient C-Train access for the non-participant. There are a number of accommodation options in and around Motel Village, as there are a wide range of eating and refreshment venues.

The match will consist of 12 stages @ 225 rounds. We are in the process of seeking Level III sanctioning with IPSC. Once we have completed that process, we will release the Match Copy.

Your Co-Match Directors will be Rick Erickson and Joe Breslawski.

We hope you can come out and join the fun. See you there !

I'm confused:confused:
Is the APRA the Alberta Provincial Rifle Association as you posted above or the Alberta Pistol and Rifle Association as you posted on the IPSC Alberta website?

Currently sitting in a 10 x12 room at Pearson Airport with a Customs gal glaring at me for loose rounds in my baggage and this post is making me smile.

Ahhh....OK
I'm just asking the question as it seems you are sending mixed messages to the IPSC Alberta members and folks on this forum. Not sure why the change in format is all. Not sure why you feel the need to do it with multiple accounts on CGN and the IPSC Alberta forum as well, but that is none of my business.

Someone else wrote the copy -it takes allot of souls to put on a event like this

I'm sure you are well aware I know that. I find it curious you have ample time to take this on considering the amount of work it takes to perform the APRA President's role as well. But I guess if you sluff off certain duties and ignore them like you do your emails it makes it a little easier....
For someone who rants on about 'fudiciary responsibility' you may want to take a hit of your own medicine...

They are not private messages on private forums, they are public messages on public forums.

I'm a bully? You have wrongfully shut out dozens of fellow shooters off of the APRA ranges to further the interests of your discipline the BTSA, personally blocked the memberships of fellow shooters who want to become members of user groups within the APRA because they voice concerns over APRA leadership, ignored your duties as the APRA President by not remaining impartial to the processes within the APRA and I'm the bully??????? That's rich.
The shooting public, IPSC Canada and the APRA membership body has a right to know what the APRA and the APRA board of directors are doing. As the President of the APRA, your actions in that office are and should be completely open to the public (you shoot on public land as a non-profit organization remember?). I suppose if it were to put you in bad light I can see how that would be upsetting. Maybe instead of complaining about 'cyberbullying' you should do the job you signed on to do.

As an IPSC member I should be appalled that IPSC Alberta has chosen to take the APRA on in hosting the 2012 IPSC Alberta Provincials, but I'm guessing they don't really know what is going on behind the scenes....

This might be fun to watch..........

Just to bring you up to speed on this Mike: Cyberbullying has subsequently been defined as "when the Internet, cell phones or other devices are used to send or post text or images intended to hurt or embarrass another person"

Have you ever been on the internet before? Besides searching for #### isn't that what it was invented for???????

This is an interesting remark.

As an IPSC Alberta member we should be privy to what goes on behind the scenes, given that the Provincials is supposed to be our Crown Jewel.

Care to enlighten us?

The f@ck is this all about? Some one care to fill me in.

Very good question ... I was wondering the same thing.

Or maybe they do? Dunno for sure, just asking a question ...

There are several threads in the service rifle forum on the subject. Without being involved in it in any way, it seems to be some controversy between the APRA and some of the member groups of the APRA.

I would sugest that people read up on it if they feel so inclined.

I'm not sure that it would or will effect the IPSC alberta provincials, however I if was personally involved with it I could see being affronted that IPSC is using them as a range.
