Shipping from Brownells

My advice... stay away from UPS!!!
UPS will rape you on Brokerage fees and and other assorted BS charges.
I get my stuff shipped by USPS (United States Postal Sevice)
They send mail by Air or ground, your choice depending how much of a hurry you are in. Postal rates are not that bad.

Just select USPS Priority,,,, and the in the comment box I allways put

Please ship USPS parcel Post...

Cost 5.75

:agree: But I never put anything in the comment box, not necessary. I placed about 15 orders with them and no problems. Every package was shipped INTFC at $5.75 except for 2 which was a few cents more at $5.95.

Their checkout system doesn't provide a shipping cost - I asked about the cost of shipping a handguard and was told the rather vague "less than $25".

Sounds like it's your experience that a small box would be $6 or $10 or so?

That's because you picked USPS Express as the shipping method. USPS is Express is opposite of Canada Post. You need to pick USPS Priority Post and shipping will be $5.75.

I did that recently and a $70 trigger pull gauge ended up costing $25 worth of shipping:eek:

I'm getting the impression that Brownells would prefer not to deal with CDN orders:mad:

You couldn't be more wrong! Brownell's service is excellent. They have supported our IDPA Provincials for four years running. Any time I have phoned in an order they have been most helpful. I certainly don't get the impression from their service they don't want us.

Take Care

They're sending stuff from the U.S. to here. Imagine the miles your order made to get to you.

That's something.

When I order a rare part for my Volvo, worth 25 $ but made of unobtainium in Canada, I don't complain for a 20 $ shipping fee when it made all the way from California.

two magazines and some cleaning brushes cost me $5.75 shipping two weeks ago. They do give you USPS options when you do the checkout. As said earlier stay far away from UPS.

I have put in 3 orders below $ 100 each. At the time of checking out the USPS First CLass Mail International option did not pop up, so I selected Priority Mail and called the International Customer Service rep and asked them to change the shipping to First Class Mail -- no problem received my orders in about the same time as Priorty because there was no delay while customs checked the package, like they do with Priority and then you have to pay a handling fee for the service $15 if I remember correctly.

Brownels service is excellent!

There is no USPS International First Class pick. You just pick USPS Priority Post and they automatically ship by USPS INTFC and you don't have to call them either. What do you mean they charged you $15 handling fee? I've placed over 15 orders with them and all they ever charged me was $5.75.

The $15 is a charge by Canada Post for clearing. I think I mentioned in my post "USPS First CLass Mail International option did not pop up" which is why you can only select Prority as default shipping method. From my experience they do not automatically ship First Class when you select Priority. I did this once and that was when my shipmentwhent out Priority and got hit by Canada Post and Customs for the extra $15

This is my exact experience too. But keep in mind that you will have to pay GST and a "handling fee" thanks to the CBSA. My $95 order showed up owing About $15 in those 2 fees. Nothing to do with Brownells, everything to do with our government.

I gues I must have lucked out then. Not once have I ever had to pay for any custome or handling fees from CBSA on any orders of mine from Brownells. If anyone is from CBSA, I'm in Mississauga. Laugh2
