Norinco (steel case) 7.62x51 ammo is hot!

I ran the copper washed steel cased Norc ammo through my CanAm m14 shorty, over the chrono:

average 2660.2 fps, 2308.7 ft/lbs. Std deviation 6.7, span 22.8. 10 rounds for this sample group.

Through the Ruger Scout (Mauser Action) Rifle:

average 2706.9 fps, 2390.4 ft/lbs. Std deviation 7.3, span 23.4. 10 rounds for this sample group.

Spam can, but I just realized I made an error. I posted the m/sec deviations instead of ft/sec due to looking at the wrong row. This puts my devation and span in line with the YouTube post. I have to go back later to correct my error on YouTube as well. My apologies.

This ammo is the copper washed steel cased ammo that was sold with the CanAm M14/Case of Ammo deal. Have no pictures of the ammo, but if you've had or see a case of the Norinco copper washed steel cased in a wooden crate with spam cans, you know what this stuff is.

I edited my post above, but here it is again, corrected to ft/sec.

CanAm Shorty M14:

average 2660.2 fps, 2308.7 ft/lbs. Std deviation 22.8ft/sec, span 74.7ft/sec . 10 rounds for this sample group.

Through the Ruger Scout (Mauser Action) Rifle:

average 2706.9 fps, 2390.4 ft/lbs. Std deviation 24.0ft/sec, span 76.8ft/sec. 10 rounds for this sample group.

Looking at these two rifles, it suggests the Norinco is consistent ammo. By comparison our .308 plinking ammo, which is a 150gn FMJ propelled by BLC-2 and I saw SD:32.7ft/sec and S:97.8ft/sec in the M14 and SD:22.9ft/sec and S:60.0ft/sec in the scout. In fairness I have a very small sample group because most of the Norcino ammo went down range, but not through the light screens.

Did you by chance do any accuracy testing with your Ruger Scout? I'm curious to see what the Norinco ammo did in yours. The stuff -barely- feeds in mine and I bought it because I thought it may be a good alternative to the Czech corrosive stuff but I never got to really test for accuracy because I thought I was damaging my extractor while shooting the stuff

I shot 5 strings today over my Chrony (Alpha model), with my M305 and my Savage 10PC (20" barrel).

The ammo is the spam can stuff, 96 production. Temp at the range was 5 celsius, chrony 10' from the muzzle. Strings 1-4 are from the Nork and 5 is the Savage.

I only shot 6 rounds through the Savage as the bolt was stiff to open on the 6th round.
None of the cases were split and all primers looked normal after firing.

I've added the AV metres per second. Canadian issue C21 ball is supposed to be an average of 840 m/s (+ -5) from both the FN and the C6, so the numbers don't look that far off.
