LOL! How true!
Hope I'm not jacking...
Colt 1911A1 1943
Underwood M1 Carbine 1943
Springfield M1 Garand 1941

None of mine, as far as I know, experienced combat. The Colt and Underwood both came off the Alaska Highway Project, traded for booze and such, had to get them registered when I aquired them.
The M1 Garand is a Lend Lease to Britain. If little man would have invaded England instead of Mother Russia, it would likely have seen some service.

Does your 1943 Colt have a Canadian Broad Arrow stamped just below the mag release or behing the serrations on the left hand of the slide? Also Canada purchased over 8,000 M1 Garands during WW2.

Joe is that camo background WW2 German or U.S Marines?

I think Joes background is a German WWII Zeltbahn (shelter/poncho) in splinter camouflage.

Here's some U.S. Marine camo for you :D

Some of my USGI gear. The M1 Carbine is a 1943 Inland, WWII all original and was imported from Africa in the 1970's by the previous owner. The M1 Garand is a 1943 Springfield, all original including un-cut op rod and 1943 dated sling. Various A1's and other USMC gear. Hoping to do a big display some day, with various captured weapons and gear as well.

Nice Steve! Thanks for the heads up on the camo pattern. I was pretty sure it was German but not completely.

Is your Marine camo WW2 period or repro? Where did you get it? How are the cartouches on your carbine and Garand?

I have a Danish '43 Springfield VAR with a original '43 stock with the proper cartouches unmolested. I'm slowly restoring it (replaced bolt, gas tube and plug, added locking bar - not sure what to do about the barrel; probably leave it unless I get lucky with a good '43 barrel). Plus 1907 sling and PAL bayo with VP sheath.

You need a Johnson, a Riesling, a 1903; plus some Japanese rifles, a Nambu and a sword! Not too big of a list. ;)

Hi, Yes the Marine camo is 100% original. This piece is an early WWII shelter half. As with most of the early USMC fieldgear, it's becoming very difficult to find. I also collect early USMC field gear, mostly depot made stuff.

The cartouches have held up pretty well on mine. Here's a pic I took a while ago showing the cartouche and G.I.'s name on the M1 Carbine:

Let me know if need any help finding a barrel, I will keep an eye out!

Thanks Steve! My cartouches are about the same. I'm very happy the Danes or someone else didn't sand them off. And thanks for the offer.

Just a thought... you and Artyman might want to do a joint display if you guys are close. Seems he's getting into Japanese milsurps in a big way.

Yes, Artyman has some great stuff! Hopefully we will meet up some day.

I actually have a Nambu already (if you scroll down in that thread, mine is there also) and a bringback Japanese flag. I just ran out of time and space to get everything in the pic, maybe next time I'll try to squeeze everything in. I also collect German WWII bringbacks; helmets, flags, ect. I'm hoping to get a quality P38 and K98 someday...

I know there are more USGI collectors on these board, hoping to see some more trios and collections!
