May I say you something about the REAL thing?

I'm happy that VHS rifles are of such great interest in you country.
I had the luck to be in Croatia (something that is a luck in itself) when the weapon was first time showed to general public so I went in Karlovac and get to handle it, something I did with a great and growing pleasure.
Weapon gave me a fantastic impression, so i keep me interested in it and so if you are interested I would gladly share share with you information I have collected.
In any case I can begin with telling you that touching and handling that weapon is a real pleasure in itself, polimeric black cover is absolutely flawless, rifle body is absolutely smooth and without any irregularity, bump, pointy or irregular surface, so I surprised myself caressing it like it was some type of exotic pet.
That was obviously not casual nor some commercial trick to enter in the gun's fetish market, but a precise and stringent request from the Croatian army and SF operatives that was and still are closely involved in evaluation and development of the rifle, request that lead to the propping of the parallel DGI model requirement .
Continue...

P.S. I know nothing about the two guys on the video but I know for sure that than creator of both VHS and of HS2000/ XD is Marko Vuković ,an Independence War veteran, two times awarded with the croatian equivalent of the Purple Heart and both times returned to the front line, so someone around here is kindly requested to die in shame and above all STFO!

As the son of a Karlovac native, I am definitely interested in seeing these rifles come to Canada. I will tell you, having visited my dad's home town, the locals are quite proud of the firearms produced there and with good reason. Bring on the VHS!

we have been in talks with the manufacturer about the vhs assualt rifle.

They are currently busy with fufilling current orders for select fire models; but do plan on releasing a semi-auto only model when they have the opportunity.

When hs produkt is ready for production of a semi-auto only model you can be sure we will work to have this rifle brought to to hands of canadian sport shooters.

drool!!!

Welcome from Croatia! And I agree that comment was a bit much. The expression is STFU, however.

Oh give me a break. Those two guys on the video come across as Hollywood sterotypes. That was what I was referring to. Some of you need to give the political correctness hollier than thou by trying to crucify others routine a rest.

Oh and Marcellogo, Im glad to hear you liked the firearm. It seems to have been a very long work in progress. From DI to it's current system. Also Im glad they are modifying the safety as that was an issue from what Ive read. Hopefully they also dump the 1980s carry handle as well. Although most would probably agree we could live with the Famas/type 97 style carry handle if the price was right.

As for your other comment. If you can watch that horrible video and not laugh at it then well we aren't going to get along. Watch a nut n fancy video. If you don't think the guys a bit of a nut job and laugh then you take life too seriously. Frankly I don't care if he or the product he's showing was created by national hero. The video was funny.

Ok, agreed, i know you was joking, only please consider that something than can be funny in the Americas can be just tragic here and I can assure you that real war criminals, altought they come in different stocks, are absolutely different from those two innocuos guys .

To lighten up things, I admit i've laugted but only because name of the manager interviewed,Hrvoje Japuncic', sound absolutely funny in Croatian, something like: Croats but also a little Japanese, or also Brittany Beachsandal (the sort here called Japanke). Probably fun perception are influenced by language you actually speak.
For the rest when I watched video i was looking about how disassembling weapon actually work and what have been changed between the initial version that I have handled and the actual.
Because of it I also get direct confirmation of an important question I and others here have spotted before: there is not a Famas or an HK or an integral sight version of the rifle and no one handguard would be dropped as in last version you can simply clip one over the another like you do with others accessories...

About weapon however you are absolutely right, altought ufficially adopted by the army a spiral development process is still on and acquisition process would be progressive in the sense that most of them is actually given years after years to new recruits while veterans will keep on with the still valid M-70 until their actual term of service would be renovated.

P.S. I'm not 100% sure but I think one picture at beginning of thread was taken by me and posted on internet.

That one was actually mine (I keep it, guess why:p) and table setting on background seems almost identical, look at the four magazines and a knife.

Weapon is actually first production model: it has the small cavity on the buttstock ,absent in prototypes, but it still lack interchangeable carrying handle

G36 style mags with tabs?

Agreed, I would have thought that if they had the foresight to utilize the NATO standard round, then perhaps the AR mags wouldn't have been much of a stretch... unless of course they feed both the proprietary and STANAG.

But then why the tabs... it just complicates the feeding between NATO rifles and storage/access in the field.

They have taken the idea, just improved...

Basic idea come from G36 and from Sig but realization is different, I can get it first hand as also the HK ones was on show there.
German ones are made from two different pieces, bottom is black , body is fully trasparent, croatian are built in a single and sturdier piece and they are more opaque.
Both magazines can be clipped together but german end up at same level, croatian end up instead a little scaled down one from other, in order to differ one from other just by touch.
Main difference is however that HK have to be inserted with a double movement akin to AK ones, while croatian ones are just inserted vertically, like ones for M-16.

This I get from another site i usually partecipate in:

The magwell can be replaced with a USGI M16 mag compatible magwell. Stock magwell is larger than its USGI counterpart. I tried feeding one and the USGI mag wobbles inside but the mag release snaps into place.

http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?197776-HS-VHS-K-bullpup-assault-rifle Higly valuable. LOTS OF PHOTOS AND ILLUSTRATIONS.

To be more precise , HS product claim it can, upon agreement, custom made compatible wells for any 5,56 magazine.

Magazine release is horseshoe shaped: to actionate it you have to wrap your hand around magwell and press slightly, magazine litterally spring forth and rest in the same hand.

This is however another big, big plus of VHS rifle: every firing drill operation can be performed with ease, there is no need to exert any relevant force,at the contrary everything can be performed using a single hand or better said just only one or two fingers.
At same moment , all those operations can (as long as it seemed to me during handling) be made in full security, without almost any chance of mishandling thrm.

I might have asked this before but what is the length of pull on these rifles? Too much LOP can be a deal killer with bullpups. Also can someone take a picture looking down the sights?

Hard to ascertain precisely, but as a rule of thumb about 12/14 inches.

Looked at patent, no such data but bullet chamber is between the two
roundels between magwell and trigger assembly and barrel begin where upper handguard end.

So from buttstock to there 10,5 inches (total lenght- barrel lenght) so let's add one or two inch to get to desidered point.

I honestly think that the video shows the absolutely worst gun handling ever.

I don't know about that. I remember a video of a guy muzzle-sweeping the cameraman with a pistol caliber carbine (Sub 2000, IIRC) while trying to rack the bolt. It has probably been removed by now (this was a few years ago).

It seems discussion died out, so let me gave you a last, excellent new.

Trigger mechanism is a progressive one: also when set in auto mode it would have a position one that only fire semi and a position two for volleys.
It means that it would be extremely simple to sport a not reversible semi-auto only version of the rifle, just by putting on a dedicated trigger without position two.
