I am going to do a bit of a torture test with a Ruger 10/22, and I want to run the absolute most filthy, dirty ammo through it that is available. Is there any brand of ammo out there that is "better" in this respect?

Winchester xpert, white box hp ammo. Not the dirtiest maybe, but it creates a gummy film that jams up my 10/22 action. Problem is, it's very accurate in my guns. I won't shoot it anymore.

Remmington, as compared to ,blaser, American eagle, Winchester, cci, remington fouls my cz cadet twice as fast as any other ammo. Observing fired casings there is always powder burn on the outside of the casing, so it appears it does not give a good seal and a lot of crap sneaks past the rim back into the chamber and action. Other ammo casings have no burn on the outside. Remmington of all flavors is dirty.

Tell you what though, I don't know if they still have it, but WSS was selling five packs of Thunderbolts with a cool little knife. I almost bought one for the knife. Couldn't bring myself to do it. Don't know if you have a WSS in your area but if your're going to buy thunderbolts you might as well get a free pocket knife with them.
Oh here it is...

My mistake they are "Viper" ammo. It must be really good stuff....

One of the only rounds that used to make the Charter Arms AR-7 sing  , though.....

I hear ya, and all kidding aside, it's all my SIG Mosquito would reliably feed, during the break-in period.
And I got my best grouping ever, with a High Standard, using Thunderbolts.

Almost exactly one year ago, this happened to me:

I originally attributed it to a combination of Winchester wildcats and Remington thunderbolts. After more experimentation, I can safely conclude it's the thunderbolts. Interestingly, when I dipped a whole batch of thunderbolt bullets in thinned down alox, the leading goes away, turned out to be very accurate too.

don't buy Viper's, they don't cycle in a stock 10/22. WSS exchanged the brick they sold me with the 10/22. They should have known better

remington ammo is so bad. I don't understand why they have their product like that. Everyone knows about it, but yet, it's still for sale as is.

seriously think about it, Why? it's not like it cheaper or something. It's just bad/ Really bad.

blows my mind.

Thunderbolt is crap huh? No wonder I can't hit squat.... lol

Actually today I was using winchester xpert HV... I think that stuff is junk too... too many FTF for my liking.... not a big deal in a bolt action, but sucks when the dud is inside the chamber and won't come out in my marlin 795....

I have half a brick of thunderbolt left and about 15-20 rounds of xpert left and I think I will try something else

I'll add another vote for Remington - but Golden Bullets. Cheap bullets for plinking but a real patience tester. Lots of FTF's and FTE's and jams in the mag with my 10/22.
