My poor glock and my bloody hand!

What a bummer, hope your hand heals up good as new.
You mentioned a new bullet that you tried.. what kind was it?? Please do a follow up report on this incident, I hate to see stuff like this happen but I think there is something to be learned from these unfortunate incidents so they can be avoided in the future.
All the best.

rubbish, factory ammo and no problems, handloads in a Glock your asking for trouble. You may be fine for years but sooner or later.

Can you please explain why a properly constructed reload is more hazardous in a glock than factory ammo?

Thank you.

Stay away from lead and you wont have issues reloading for Glock. Common sense works; stay under max powder loads, don't go below OAL (attn. CZ owners), keep your gun clean, if possible don't use powder you can double charge. If you want to be safe keep track of your brass an don't pick up brass you don't know much about.

all good advice. hickok45 is a glock guy and shoots tonnes of reloads but he has said on may occasions he tends to load things down.

I am glad you are ok. My leg was blown up by the side plate of the receiver off a very high end shotgun while shooting trap 4 years ago. Neither my leg or myself have been the same since. These stories freak the #### out of me.

You just said it there, we are humans, humans fuk up and miss stuff, so accidents happen and glocks well they are polymer.

Well factories produce duds every once in a while too and glock isn't the only polymer guns out there either. They do seem to be the only one's to say not to use reloads though.

Had a bit of hassle getting the busted lower off the slide.

The chamber blew out through the bottom.

..and the winner is a Double charge of 231 at 12 grains:owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned::owned: The best part is i didn't make the ammo and i never bother checking:owned::owned:

Well, at least the slide still lives. Never did find the trigger.

dunno man, i dont reload and dont intend too, i know id blow myself up sooner or later. I figure ill stick to factory rounds where the quality control is a bit better.

Ya that right there bud, i will never shoot somebody elses reloads ever. If i am gonna shoot reloads ill do it myself. So where did you get the ammo, hope he isnt a friend lol.

can you unquote all the pictures gunguy ^^^ annoying to scroll through the same pictures twice. Thanks!

man that sucks, lucky when i switched powders it was only a grain or 2 over charged and just blew out the mag.

is that a gen 3.5 or 4? the recoil spring is gen 3 but the dimple on the trigger bar looks gen 4.

Very scary indeed.... as far as shooting reloads out of a G21 I will continue doing so... Hell I'll probably continue shooting blazing hot 10mm out of one too. Saw a buddy's "awesome HK USP .45" go kaboom as well... Glocks are still workhorses IMO. Ever see a 1911 frame come apart from shooting 10mm through a previously .45acp gun? And that is steel. There's a reason polymers exist, and even if it isn't your cup of tea it WORKS. Show me a modern car containing no plastic and I'll applaud... Technology, get on board or get out of the way.

P.S. Did not mean to derail your thread, get well soon and thank you for sharing!

Get a RCBS lock out die and set it properly to prevent squibs and double loads. Very worthwhile $50 investment.

Read a reloading book like "The ABCs of RELOADING".

Firearms are inherently dangerous. Somewhere the ABCs book states clumsy, drunken folks should NOT reload.
