CRAP !! My KSG NEVER BROKE !! IT'S A GOOD GUN !!

I was just about to make a post how I am #79 on waiting list for KSG and how that was a bad thing...........but NOW I think it is better NOT to be first....I am still going to get one.

Yah, for sure, you should still get one. Over all, I think its a pretty solid gun. A lot more steel in this thing than pics made me believe there was.
I spoke to the retailer today and they said that there should be no problem with Vault getting me a new piece of forarm. I will email Vault myself with a photo and hopefully they will just send the part without me having to return the whole gun.
Dont be too discouraged people. I think this is still a solid peice of kit and if you can get one, go for it.
As for the plastic, they should be using stronger material, thats all.

Cheers..

I'm not sure how to post photos, but I'll try to figure it out. I really think that the best solution would be to dremmel out a small area under the hand guard so that no contact can be made. I'm worried that repeated poundind may eventually brake the forarm release trigger. Not sure why Kell Tek didn't see this as a potential problem area.

I use tinypic dot com to host images... Upload photo, copy IMG code and paste into the body of your post.

I am surprised that there is impact to the trigger guard... I'd check to see if everything was in alignment, and if it is, I would have no issue removing a bit of polymer from the forend to ensure it doesn't happen again. I milled off a bunch from the forend on my 780 so it would clear the side saddle I installed.

In terms of a polymer rail... I think it's fine for accessories (lights, lasers etc.) but nothing as potentially aggressive as some of those oversized vertical grips. The polymer hat Kel-Tec used seems to be "harder" than that on a Glock or a Tavor. So it may not have to same amount of "indestructible flexibility" found in these other firearms. Nonetheless it machines well when I "deburred" some of the mold lines on he rfb.

On another note the only thing I plan on putting on the bottom rail is a rubber cover... And maybe A hand-stop to keep from experiencing RFDS...aka Rapid Finger Disintegration Syndrome.

Thanks StormTrooper, I'll play with that later when I have more time.
There is only a small amount of contact between the forarm and the trigger guard area. What I think may have happened is, this is a Gen 2 [3?] gun and they changed the forarm release from whatever it was to the trigger that now sits on the front of the trigger guard. Perhaps in their original design, there was enough clearance in this spot, but now the forarm touches the release trigger. Don't know, but it would be easily fixed by simply machining another 4mm or so off the forarm in this spot.

I sold mine as well, but had plenty of time to handle it beforehand and there is nothing that feels cheap about it. Had Keltec not molded that pic rail into the fore-end, there would be no talk of broken composite components at all. I was sufficiently impressed with mine that I will be getting another KSG at a later date. I find it funny how the majority of those that are whining the longest and loudest about the quality of this gun have never even held one in thier own two hands. Armchair quarterbacks, the lot of 'em.

I'll have one in my hand on Monday and will be able to form my own opinion. That said they certainly beat the crap out of them in this video and it still appears to be working...even after they blew it up with a dd...

here is a video :

I did some tests, the forend actually has to go all the way back until it touches the frame in order to spit the next shell out of the mag. It cycles fine the way it is, only when you do it slow or very light (as i did in a video), it grabs on that little bump on the frame just before touching the frame.. Although the forend already has a round notch inside for that bump to fit in, it still seams to be pretty tight..
So i wonder what can be done, file the bump down a bit, file the forend just a bit so it fits around the bump, or leave it as is and just enjoy.. :) ??

Common problem with most KelTec products, great concept but poor/cheap execution.

You are far from alone.

the saiga the proof that you dont need to be tacticool to tactiwork reliably
now if only we could figure out how to tacticly change the mind of the gov about kalashnikov actions we would be in business

The people at Keltec are not stupid..
They know that if they come up with a shotgun that can hold 15 rounds "off the shelf".. Capacity starved Canadians will line up to pre order... :D

It won't matter that it doesn't really work or that it falls apart...

No offense, but... It's a POS.

When was the last time you read a thread titled..

CRAP !! My new 870 just broke..?

I actually just read this today....

:agree: X2

Well here it is, not well I heard it from a friend of a friend. But first hand experience with a turd.
My first shotgun was an 870 supermag. 50rds and the locking lugs started to peen on back.(yes the end cap was on tight) Nice heat treat there remmy . Had all the issues with FTE (rough chamber) no matter what loads went through it.
Take a look at the pics of my first and last 870.

Im done with Remington now, thats 2 guns(bad experience with a 572) that never should have followed me home. Should have took the hint the first time.

I've deployed with an 870. I've taught courses with the 870. I consider the the 870 to be the barometer of what a fighting shotgun is and I am very comfortable with it as a platform. I've also broken a couple 870's... The last time I blew the Sage front sight right off the barrel.

I now have just added a KSG to my toolkit, and in my humble opinion, it is a "game changer". Mine cycles smooth, functions without flaw and is well constructed. I find the ergonomics of it to be superior to that of the 870 - partly due to my frame, and my familiarity with bullpup designs. Did I mention that it loads out with access to 15 rounds of ammunition, asking in return that the operator flick a switch after shot number 8. I've taken it to show other firearms instructors and they were unanimously impressed... with one solid offer to buy it from me on the spot (no deal though...).

I take no offense to you or others believing it to be a POS. I welcome comments and differing opinions from those who have first hand experience. For me, the KSG is perfect... now my Norinco 780 Homeland Security... that's a POS (but I still really enjoy it...):D

Maybe you should read this thread. Somehow people like to keeping bumping the thread that says it broke, instead of the thread which has the OPs apology.
