Idea: Canada legal PDW

So I was looking at the 5.7 and realized after some reading it's not a whole lot better in most forms than a hot 22mag. So with that said is there a possibility of making a PDW sized firearm with high cap mags in 22WMR. It would have a decent market in Canada due to the reasonably cheap ammo, legal high cap mag etc. and the short range application for this kind of thing negates the accuracy complaints associated with the round. Maybe i'm missing something but I think you would sell a bunch of em if they came in at a reasonable price.

I don't know if I would quite put the 5.7mm round in the same category as the .22WMR but I understand what you're saying.

What about the Kel-tec RMR? I don't think it's in production yet and we may be stuck with 10 round mags depending on how they market it but it looks like a fun and affordable toy.

EDIT: Just noticed this is in the CanAm forum, but they don't seem interested in pursuing the project so I'll leave my post up. PM me if you want it deleted.

Isn't the purpose in 5.7 the armor piercing? Since that is negated, why not just get a tavor?

Because of the theoretical possibility of normal capacity magazines and non-restricted barrel lengths significantly less than 18.5 inches. With a special line of really hot ammo it could be a seller.

That said, I'd see a .458 blackout AR pistol and our STANAG-magwell bullpups selling better lots better.

I have wanted the same kind of thing, but for an AR-15

something like the .22 conversion kit, but for .22 mag or some other larger rimfire caliber.

likely would need someone like cmmg or black dog to manufacture, not likely gonna happen

handgun 10 rifle unlimited.. unless it works in both

I agree a fully capacity .22mag with a short barrel, close to 26" overall fully collapsed...

If only the Kel-Tec RMR 30 would come up here non restricted...

Yeah I'd like to pick one of those up if they came up here as non-restricteds.

Only problem is as far as I know the rifle and pistol use the same magazines, so they'll be limited as pistol mags.

The kel tec is what got my interest really rolling in the first place till I heard it used the pistol mags and that kinda crapped on my fun. And yes for the record, my kingdom to the man who can import .458 socom pistol mags. I would seriously sell my left nut

Why don't we just keep working on our politicians to get rid of the different classes of firearms? De-restrict the AR and short barrels, and your problem is solved without having to convince someone to manufacture anything new. The problem isn't the lack of firearms available that work within our our laws, the problem is our laws.

I don't disagree with the spirit of your argument. I am however a realist and mine is the I want it right now answer, yours is the far preferable 10 year plan.

Spoken like I said it myself. I'm also a here today, gone tomorrow person.

But for imagination sake. How about a 50 round top mounted magazine P90 in .17hmr? :)

Just sayin'!

Lol!

A PS90 copy in 22mag would be awesome. Since the P90 mag is so large you could potentially forego the issues of a double stacked rimfire magazine and just go with a single stacked one as you could probably still make it a 30ish round magazine. I suppose that is a pipe dream though because it would have to be licensed by FN and Canada does not have anywhere near the market size to make it worth it(although it would probably sell in the states as well just because of how much cheaper 22WMR is than 5.7x28mm).

I really don't think the problem is in the restricted vs nonrestricted class's, what needs to happen is the destruction of the need for ATT's. If I'm licensed to own restricteds then you can be damn sure I'm gonna be transporting them. there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to take any of them to the same places I take my non restricteds to shoot or hunt.
