Im wondering if I can order a bunch of magazines for my new pistol and ship them to just below the border in Montana. Then I would go down and pick them up and bring them back? Will this work? I would buy them here but there are none in Canada at all!

Yes, you can do that, but not legally. Be aware that you are violating US firearms export laws and they have no sense of humour about that sort of thing. If you manage to make it out of the US without incident you will have no trouble on the Canadian side, provided the mags are pinned to 10 and you declare the value of the goods.

Can you not find the mags through Brownells? They ship most things that can be shipped north and their prices are generally decent.

Numrich will ship to you, $200 limit, $25 export fee (importing yourself without documents is illegal), cheap shipping out of NY state... google it.

You can order 10 round mags from the US legally - stick with a known exporter, some US gunshops are run by guys who aren't familiar with their own laws, which could end up with them bankrupt and you out the cost of your mags, and on the Watch List.

Try a couple of site sponsoring dealers who do one-off imports of whole guns, e.g. Prophet River Firearms or Questar. Since they are used to that paperwork and have connections with U.S. dealers who are used to doing one-off deals with them, they can probably do all the necessary U.S. export paperwork and the get the magazines up here for less money and trouble than you could yourself, especially if you have to take a trip to the U.S. to bring the stuff back.

Unless you wanted to make a trip to the U.S. anyway and aren't in a hurry for the magazines so you can take the time to do the research and the paperwork and yourself and you just want to do things yourself. Depends how you value these intangibles.

Canada-legal magazines can be brought into the country, from a licensed US dealer, but you, personally, cannot take magazines out of the US without an export license. I have had legal magazines shipped to me from the US without any problem.

If S&W has any in stock they will ship $100 and under per package to Canada, I've bought mags for my 1911 direct from them before.

ok here is the link you need

I had to get my MP mags straight from S&W too, and it will likely take them a bit to get the paperwork in order ect ect, but they do ship to canada, keep it under 100$ so multiple orders for more then that,
and boom you have your mags.

just dont try to order the 15 rounders by mistake

also let me know how the gun runs for you, I have been toying with getting it since I have the mp 45 and like to practice with .22 but my rugers controls are not the same.
