I did the same with mine years ago. Never ended up using it because of the brutal chin weld, probably didn't help I was using an SVD scope.

I hope you have better results than I.

How do you deal with the scope being so far back? Looks brutal. I don't see how you can properly shoulder the rifle. I could be way off though, not hatin'.

I just went and dug it out and mounted the POSP. My description was not accurate.

My poly SDV stock is too long. With the rifle shouldered correctly, the scope is about 4 to 5 inches from my face. I used the supplied SKS to POSP mount, it's just a single bar attached in the same position as yours, but mine doesn't have the plate that lowers the scope attaching point toward the trigger assembly. Mine is mounted higher, near the dust cover.

I suppose if I were to use an adjustable stock with cheek piece, like Tapco?, it might actually work.

The other reason I never used it was because I have the 8x42 POSP which has a rather large objective bell that hangs over the action and I don't have a shell defector.

When I did the work to this SKS CGN wasn't around, late 90's. I think I paid $90 for the SKS so I wasn't too upset about welding to it.

I didn't mean to highjack your thread with my ramblings from a foggy memory.:onCrack:

Dont worry about it, the more info the better not many of us have done this setup I have a closet full of SKS's and decided this was the one to do it with soon as I can I will have a range report.

Hi there. Kalinka Optics sells these rail mounts and all sorts of accessories and scopes. I bought one if their POSP Zoop scopes with the built in Weaver Rail and it was a mistake as one if the rail mount brackets cracked and broke off. Oh well now I have a fancy scope that has broken weaver rail mounts :(. Looks like a good way to mount the scope on the sks as I always thought the receiver cover mount was not the most solid method. Regards.

I ordered from kalinka optics and I received a *slightly* rusted scope mount and most of the screws stripped. After a *long* time discussing the problem with them, they (a.) Didn't replace the mount and (b.) Didn't know the screw size and (c.) Offered to give me a discount if I ordered something else.

Buyer beware. I'm sure they may* offer good things - but my experience was poor.

Im curious how you guys are drilling through the receiver. I have a side rail and mount for my SKS but I spent like 10 minutes with a high speed metal drill bit and it didnt even make a dent in the metal of the receiver. What are you guys using?

Drill press, low speed, oil and you'll need a new drill bit. You've likely brunt the end of bit. Speed isn't your friend during this process.

Drill press isn't necessary but it is easier.
