Just wondering were i could get a custom built rifle in 7 mm from a renom firm or smith... JP.:)

I have had ATRS build me two rifles - excellent workmanship and accuracy. I also own a rifle built by Casey at Tac Ord which is also first class. I think PGW can build a Coyote in calibres other than .308 and if that is so then they would also be an excellent choice.

I am sure there are other excellent choices out there but the 3 above come easily to my mind as I own products from each.

There are several 7mm's...

What cartridge are you thinking of?

Hundreds of qualified smiths do it all the time...

Gaillard does excellent work. I think there is a guy named Noby Uno in van. that is good also. Like guntech says, lots of them.

Nobby Uno is personally my number one choice in the country. He built me a custom 7 rem mag that shoots sub .5 min at 1000 yards.

Nobby is in his mid 70's and is not the fastest. However he will probably only be building for another 3 years and if you are priviledged enough to have this guy build you a gun, i would jump on the opportunity. He's a legend in our shooting community.

If you PM me and tell me what you have. I can contact him and ask if he will do the job for you and then give you his contact info.

He is actually on Van Isl

First i think a 7mm rem mag would be nice as i am all set to reload this caliber, i would be needing a rifle with the capability of shooting from sub .25 to .5 MOA @ over 800 metres and being compliant for all competitions, the Nemesis shoot good up to 800 metres, after that it open up fast, 7 mm i was told will be the best in the wind, so be it... Sure can get by with my shooting but totally newby for very long distance shooting, so i have to start by asking the pro before crying once... JP.

You could phone Ted Gaillard (I'm pretty sure he speaks French also). He'll at least point you in the right direction.

If you mean F Open, forget about the 7RM. Consider the 284, Shehane, RSAUM or similar.

Although I have built and shot a few 7RMs and they can be superbly accurate beyond 1000m. I just don't think you want to change barrels every 800 to 1000rds.

Look up the Cdn Westerns that just happened on Nokomis, SK. We had very bumpy air and the 7's and a few 30's did very well. 6.5's got bumped and I don't think there were any 6mm's shot????

As for X ring getting ability in the winds, a 215gr Berger Hybrid, 300RSAUM took top honors

Define the sport and the tech will be easy to recommend.

Generalising then wanting specific performance is like saying you want an F1 winning mini van..... pretty much pointless.

if you are new and are stuck on 7mm, simply go 284 winchester. mysterious is right and the 7mm rem mag eats barrels like termites eat wood.

Double the life from a 284, darned accurate. stick with an 8 twist and consider the 168 or new 175 berger vlds.

learning to shoot precision with a magnum is like learning to drive finishing nails with a sledge hammer. if you are just learning seriously consider a 6br. learn the skill of shooting with an easy cartridge, one with low recoil, and one that is one of if not THE most precise cartridges ever created. when you master the honda civic then you can learn to drive nascar. bigger isn't always better.

With a 7mm Rem mag it won't only be the rifle hindering maximum performance but IIRC there aren't very many offerings in terms of high quality belted magnum brass. As far as a barrel burner goes it makes absolutely no sense to have a "precision targret rifle" that has an accurate barrel life of sub 1000rds as many have advised against already.

I've got goods leads already and phone #, i will start calling peoples this week to get the right idea... Thank yo everyones who posted informations... JP.

I have everything except the barrel (it will be here in 2 weeks) sitting here to build a real nice 7mm Rem Mag. It is all for sale. Here is a list.

Carbon Nitrite treated Chromoly Lawton LA magnum action with long ejection port.

20MOA rail

Manners T2 stock

Badger bottom metal with one AI magazine

Brux Medium Varmint contour 7mm 1-8.5" twist barrel (to shoot 190gr Bergers)

That caliber was recommend by a few members but i got names and phones # , i will talk to experts this week, i am open to anything, i will just go with what is best, i am a rookie in the LR shooting, i realise that 800 metres is not that far, so i know i can get there, but it would be nice to get further very accurately...
