LAR mag question

I just questioned because that means a non-restricted now has 10round center fire capacity. I do lots of pest/varmint shooting and 5 rounds sucks. Next question. If it happens how do I explain to a wildlife officer/RCMP if I have a 10round center fire mag??

i believe there is a print out somewhere with the details on it. just print that out and bring it with you incase someone needs to see it

Just blasted a couples of hundred rounds yesterday with them, great mag, never had a failure, they are quality stuff... JP.

Hmmm, I'm not sure about this one myself, but bare in mind, that gun laws and hunting laws are different. That RCMP link is general gun law, not hunting law.

That 10 round mag is legal for the range and even plinking in the back 40, no question, but as soon as you aim that gun at an animal, it's a game changer.

For instance, I can go to my clubs trap range and pop a full tube a 5 rounds in my shotgun, but I better have a plug in it if I decided to chase a partridge in Ontario.

I don't have a hunting license, so really, I have no idea, just throwing that out there for you to think about. After all, it is technically a pistol mag, and you cannot hunt with a pistol. I see you're from Albert, I would not even risk it here in Ontario.

As far as I understand it in Bc you must put a plug in a shotgun when hunting waterfowl, or big game with muti progectile loads ie buckshot. No limit if using slugs.

Centerfire rifle is limited to 5 when hunting big game specifically, which does not include coyote, rodents, skunk ect ect.

As far as I know in Alberta the 5 round limit only applies for hunting big game, not varmint or pest. Also just cause your using a pistol mag in a rifle, that doesn't make the rifle a pistol. Magazines are classified based on the firearm they are designed for, if that mag works in something else, it's a bonus.
