A quick call to the detachment and a talk with an NCO with access to the FRT site would have solved the problem. BUT we don't know all the facts.

Do you think that if the Op had givin the number to the officer at time of arrest they can just look it up in their squad cars computer and be done with it?
I would like to think this would be dealt with quickly and at the lowest level if it's a mistake and the firearm is non-restricted (no other modifications by the OP).
It is possible firearm will end up at an RCMP Lab to be examined and determine its status.
Weren't you the same guy from the other thread? Or are there two now?
I was arrested for no modifications to my grizzly. The RCMP charged me with a prohibited weapon. going to court.....
Lawyer up. The firearm is legal. The lawyer has everything he needs to get this done quickly and efficiently. The RCMP shat the bed on this one.

No. Can't be done from the MDT in the car.
To the OP. I just want to clarify...
You said you were arrested and charged.
BC is the only province that the police recommend charges and crown does charge approval before the charge is laid.

Hmm.... no wonder there are so many 'cop haters', they do it to themselves.
Who pays his lawyers bill?
Not the RCMP I'm sure.
Did the Mounties check with the Crown before laying the charge.
People have got to start suing for false arrest.
In the USA the NRA would file a civil suit and sue the cops down to their boxer shorts.
That's the only way this intentional abuse of process will stop.
The Rcmp can charge you for anything and it is up to the crown to approve the charges.
If the Rcmp have reasonable grounds to charge you, they will be protected by the CCC and any other laws.
