After a comment of a fellow cgner, called Wolverine and got a real good tool for stability, got 20 rounds with it tonight and i am very happy... JP.

iv always found a good rear bag to be more stable and predictable then the rear monopods.

under recoil pulse the rifle will side on the bag, with a monopod the pod moves with the rifle and on differend surfaces will act differently.

they are a neat idea but thumbs down from me and yes iv shot with and own one of them

I will echo your sentiments on the rear bag..........you can also easily make slight elevation adjustments by squeezing the bag tighter........

Also take note that some competitions have weight restrictions for rifles.....and the weight includes attached accessories........with the Tactical/precision rigs we have these day, this little accessory might just tip you over the scales..........a rear bag is not attached to the rifle so there is no additional weight on the rifle...... ;)

X2! I had a monopod on my last stock. It was handy when I forgot my rear bag but I always prefer the rear bag.

But who knows, maybe a monopod on a Nemesis = Ultimate Precision

edit.... I hope you realize I'm just poking fun at you. Mom used to say if you don't have something good to say, don't say it.

I had a momopod and threw it away. Its a nice gimmick but nowhere near as versatile or practical as a rear bag. It may work ok on a nice flat surface like a bench on a ramge but in the field its useless.

I would think they might be useful for field expediency - when you can't carry a bag. There is a reason F-Class guys use bags.

Absolutely, even bags aren't always practical... That's why god gave you a shoulder!

I agree that a leather bunny ear style bag is not very practical for the most part in field. I made a sand sock out of an old army sock with poly beads from a craft store and find it more useful than a bunny ear bag, but thats just me. Its light, doesn't absorb moisture due to the poly beads and is easy to pack in the field.

Yesterday i tried it on a wood table and is was just great how stable it was, sure it would move after the shot but since the monopod was zero and lock and the surface was hard, it was easy to just put back on target, like a reset without touching the adjustments, on the table it is better than the bag but it sure wont be good everywere, but it give me an extra option for stability... This. Best field bag I've come across yet. - dan

You get so used to using the same kit that other solutions are overlooked.
The poly beads in a sock sounds worth a try - thanks EC.
