IPSC 2012 national

There is no point to use sarcasm. Last year Ontario haven't had any problems to post daily updates for the stage results and overall results were posted online right after the banquet.

It was a good match, but is unfortunate that match crew don't pay more attention to their competitors who could not attend the banquet. But even for those who did, few result printouts is not really enough...

+1 on that.
And I think part of my frustration is that the overall quality of the match was very high so it was disappointing that the results couldn't be delivered before I got back to work/family/friends/...wife! who were all asking "how did you do?" (even how crappy I did finish) and IMHO given the tools and technology available I don't understand the delay.

Thanks everyone!

Thank-you to everyone in Manitoba and elsewhere who worked hard to put this match on for us!

The CF team had a great time and hope to come with more shooters next year.

What about complete stage results ???????

The quality of the props and appearance was great.

With the exception of stage 4,5,12 which were quite nice and unusual for this match the placement of the targets was waaaayyy waaayyy to close and usually just behind a wall so shorter shooters had a real problem to shoot them without broken wrist point shooting. As a matter of fact I doubt anyone used their sights on 90% of the targets.

The placement of targets on many stages was at 90 degrees and they allowed shooters to break 90 to shoot targets on certain stages, ridiculous. Appantley no one read the rule book where at level III matches targets are not supposed to be visible past 90, here they wer not visible until almost 90.

Like I said, thre match was beautiful to look at and well run with a few exceptions (don't even talk about Competitors as RO's) but target placement was strictly the amateur nonsense we are used to at many Canadian matches.

I have never seen such nicely build match. All fault lines solid and painted same colours, lots of steel, clamp shells and few swingers. Almost all steel brand new, way to go Bill :)
IMO stages were nice, but targets placement was not reflecting aiming. It was run and shoot match. There was maybe one stage which could be taken 'on the move', rest like I said run, point the muzzle and shoot.
Lots of low ports, which I find refreshing. Seriously I hate shooting low, but it is Nationals and I think it makes sense to add some difficulty to the match. On the other hand placing steps, pallets for shorter guys should not be necessary.
3 min walkthroughs :)) no comment.
Disallowing shooters to check stages IMHO is unnecessary and create uneven advantage to those who ere able to see stages.
I like USPSA model, if there is not squad on the stage and RO is present, shooters could look, check the stage. It will save on time and maybe three minutes will be more then enough since most of the shooters will know the stages.
Water, always available at almost every bay.
Vendors, excellent placement.
Rain, it was dealt professionally and fast.
Results posting. Ouups how many times we need to talk about this :))

Overall. If Manitoba will host another Nationals I will come. Great people, did lots of good job, Brandon could be a fun place.

THANKS

That's just because a bunch of people got bumped due to equipment.
Who in their right mind would want to shoot open????

Well if you are going to risk being bumped to Open, why not shoot an Open gun and be competitive. (though given the closeness of the targets I don't think there was much advantage to shooting open and possibly it was slower in places) I only know of one person bumped to open, how many was there?

I only know of one as well.
Just bustin balls.

I'll be shooting open sooner rather than later.

For the nationals, I think an open gun with iron sights would have worked well.
Less chance of shooting though walls and such....

Which means you either shoot production in which case they are brother and sister or you shoot standard and then they are just first cousins....:adult:

Did you just insulted 57 production and 63 competitors from limited divisions?
I don't know about others, but generally, I don't allow anyone talk garbage about my parents.

Well switch to open then!!!

Yes, yes I did and 63 Standard shooters (we have Standard division here in Canada not limited) and 56 production shooters will see the humor in that as will the 68 Open shooters who The Breeze suggested are illegitimate children...but then most of us get humor....some, not so much...lmao

Ignoring all the banter about family reunions and target placements for just a minute...I'll make a comment on stats ;)

I've done stats for more than my fair share of Level 3's. I can honestly say it's the most thankless job on the range.

Once you weed through the:

  • Illegible score sheets
  • Deal with shooters that signed someone else's score sheets
  • Missing score sheets
  • Sheets that are added up wrong
  • Sheets with no time
  • ...the list goes on.

After dealing with all that, your often not even considered to be part of the RO team. The smart RM's MD's and SC's have figured it out...if the stats are wrong, the entire match is in question.

So, I have have nothing but respect for anyone brain damaged enough to take on the role :D That being said, I believe that the match is not over until the results are posted.

This delay, even as slight as it was, just reinforces my opinion that the NEC should give serious consideration to have all sections adopt the system that Eugene has developed for Ontario. It makes the WinMss match set-up, Classification updates and publishing of match results as easy as clicking a button.

I can guess what had to happen to publish the results for Brandon. The MD had to get the results from the Stats Director...than contact someone who managed the website...it takes multiple people..it causes delays.

The last Level 3 I did (this year in Kingston) after stats were done and posted at the range...I stopped at Starbucks on my way home to Ottawa...and used their wireless connection to connect to the IPSC Ontario Match System...and with three clicks of the mouse, the overall and stage results were posted...before my cappuccino was even ready.

Seriously...the technology is there, the system is done...if you're tired of waiting for results...email your section coordinator and tell them you want your section to start using the automated system.

If all Sections were using it...we could even have our own Canadian Classification system. Imagine that :stirthepot2:

Let's see if politics will get in the way...
