hand held ballistics calculator

I ran bulletflight for awhile, but found that it was way off. I run Isnipe which was giving excellent elevetaion at 1760. The hard part was reading the wind. Going from open to buch to open to bush over a mile is hard to judge. I also run Field Fireing Solutions, on a Recon Pda. A little complicated to start, but once you figure it out its awesome. Even linked my kestrel to it via bluetooth. lots of features for scope calibration, BC calculations, velocity corrections, everything. I like it. But isnipe was way cheaper. lol

I have "Ballistics for IPad". $20, and I like the interface and features moreso then ISnipe (which I also have). It is also running a JBM calculator.

Sure, a disconnected iPhone or an iPod will run the ballistic programs without phone service or internet connection. You'll have to manually input atmospheric conditions, though (you can install an app to read the wind, but beyond that you'll have to use other means of measuring data).

These are the 3 I most often use.

1. KAC Bulletflight
2. iSnipe
3. iStrelok(huge selection of reticles, and a sliding magnification scale to show your point of impact relative to the reticle you choose at whatever power you choose)

I've been using SHOOTER on my android phone and I love it. It is JBM in a hand held. As with all ballistics programs, the more accurate and more complete data (including Met) you input the better it performs. In my experience accurate muzzle velocities are crucial. Also Litz's BC's are the way to go especially past 600.

I have been running JBM ballistics feild edition on my iPhone for 2 years now I use it to shoot mid range and it works flawless , also I use it to look up ammo performance and bullet performance before I buy , it allows me to range with the mil redical in my scope easily just put in the reading and aprox sise of target and bam got the range , also it will tell you how high you will hit at 100 yards when you have a zero for say 200 and all your different loads or comercal ammO can be saved in favorites , there is an exstencive library of comercal loads and projectiles that is updated all the time ... It is the sole reason I got my iPhone

I use strelock on my samsung gs2 droid. I find it works reliably with many input options, particularily for free and not requiring data or phone connection to a network. The only thing that would make it nicer is multiple BC inputs as it only has 1 at this time. All that said ... still there is nothing more reliable than practice.

I tested Strelok against my actual numbers while down in Oregon a few weeks ago and it was pretty much dead on. If I had entered the ACTUAL air densities, etc it would have been 100% on but it was still within a 1/4 min which is more than accurate enough.

I just picked up a new S3 and bought Shooter for it. Looks to be as good or better than iSnipe.

I found Isnipe to be a fantastic program ... I did some research and was fortunate to have a company send me a G7 rangefinder to try for a couple months. It was developed by Nightforce and gunwerks through laser tech. Unreal peice of equipment. Calculates range and weather with your balistics and constatly adjust through out the day. Everything you need in seconds with the push of one button. Ive ranged 3000 yards with it although its rated for 2000. It calculates solutions out to 1400, but will give you all the info you need as far as you can shoot with a conventional rifle.
