looks like a out of battery fire
does the SIG 1911 have a firing pin safety?
Glad to know you are OK and able to relate the incident. A mutual friend of ours witnessed your surprise.
So, is it PMC factory ammo or reloads? In battery or not, if you're getting a face full of brass; take it to a gunsmith and get it checked out.
Who cares about the case. Did you hit the target with that shot??
Any damage to the gun or your hand?

Is there a test to check if disconnector works properly?
Yup "gun 110% unloaded for this"
Rack the slide
Pull the trigger and hold "should fire"
with the trigger held, rack the slide again "hammer should stay to the rear"
Release trigger and fire "hammer should fall"
next
#### you gun and push the slide back 1/2" and try to fire "it should not"
With an EMPTY/UNLOADED gun, pull the slide to the rear, and bring it back until it is almost closed, pull trigger.
If nothing happens, your disconnector is fine. If it goes click without the slide being fully closed, there is an issue.
Bah, Dsiwy beat me to it![]()
Thanks.

If your near Petawawa I could look at it for you
