Kaboom!

Thank you! But I am in Richmond Hill.

Did a complete disassembly, all part look OK and work fine. I still think that this recoil aping is way to soft.

a weak spring would not cause that

Weak spring will cause frame battering and feed problems

Pistols are designed to not fire unless the slide is locked

So, most likely is the overcharge in this case?

If the pistol passes a sevicablity check and all the internal safetys are working, then the ammo is the problem.

If casing ruptured from weak recoil springs, then guns would blow casing all the time ;) I work on alot on Sig and I have seen lots of worn out springs and guns not locking from dirt. None of these guns had the problem you had.

Looks like case failure at unsupported area & not out of battery detonation. Bad reload most likely. Glad you weren't hurt. Your experience certainly drivers home the importance of wearing shooting glasses.

Just in case, cleaned the chamber and polished the ramp. I am going to get a big ass glasses for the next try for sure. ;)

Found another picture form another forum, but looks very familiar. Diagnosis - overcharged round.
You can see in those, that the primary force of the blast escaping the casing is directional, going down where the feedramp would have been. .

Did you reload those rounds? Who makes PCM "reloads". What was the powder and charge? Bullet weight/type? Have you chronographed them? What is the coal of your bullets? Bullet set back?

I have the same gun as you but I only shoot my own cast bullets (225gr rn) at 715fps. And some American eagle factory stuff 230gr fmj at 800fps.

I didn't load them. Target Sports sells them as PMC factory reloads. They feel really hot.

^ I was just going to say that. 1911's (unless they come with a ramped barrel) have pretty unsupported chambers, so it's not just Glocks. Glad you and the gun are ok.

good to know

Thanks for sharing thoughs pics :)

Should of bought a Glock :nest: kidding :p

I got a 45ACP SIG P220 coming and looking forward to it :D Sig makes a great gun

This has really convinced me that fully supported chambers are a great added safety feature. It's something rarely mentioned in comparisons (ie: Glock vs everything), but it should be promoted.

if you put rocket fuel in your car and your engine blow up, would you blame the car?

I think the some important lessons should be learned from this incident:

1. WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! Bigger-better. Don't care how do you look, care about how much of real estate of your face it covers.

2. Don't BUY reloaded ammo. Use factory loads or roll them yourself and make sure that you don't use brass endlessly.

3. Because you've paid for it 1K it doesn't mean it's fail free.
