Robarms XCR FAQ post

blast, the XCR-L is sold out everywhere ive called accross canada. anyone know of a spot there they may still be available.

Wanstalls has XCR-L in 7.62x39mm.

Wolverines also has 7.62x39mm XCR-L.

You could email or call them to know when the next batch of .223 will arrive.

I have over 10,000 rounds on my original buffer, mix of 5.56 / 7.62x39 and it's holding strong. I do have a spare just in case.

Weird. Maybe I better be checking my rifle as it doesn't seem to be an issue with others. I didn't really notice any marks on it from being hit either.

Thanks guys
J

XCR buffer.

Must have spare recoil buffer. They do break and render the XCR inoperable. They cost about $10 (if I remember) at Wolverine but takes about 2 weeks if they have no stock. I have seen them break and waiting for this cheap part is painful.

When I was waiting for my replacement buffer's to ship, I shaped a 1/4" thick piece of rubber like the original buffer and contact cemented it in place.
It worked just fine of course.
When the new buffer's arrived, I pulled it out, cleaned off a bit of glue, and popped the new buffer in place.
Set your gas block on 1 and they last a long time.

Looking closer at my buffer when I close the upper onto the lower, it looks like the upper pushes down fairly hard on the buffer. This pushes the top of the buffer down and away from the back of the receiver putting some extra pressure on the nipple. I nipped the top of the buffer corners down a bit to relieve that pressure.

See what happens.

Broken part or XCR's first range day, pleas help.

Hi, this is the email I sent to Robinson Arms today. Just seeing I'd any of you knowledgeable folks have any other ideas.

I purchased my Robinson arms xcr-l about two weeks ago new. I took it to the range today to *sight in the scope I mounted on it. On the 10th shot (it had never been fired at this point) something broke. The bolt stayed back and cocked and did not chamber another round. When I attempted manually recharge the bolt with the bolt knob it just slide back and forth free sliding without out catching the bolt. At that point upon further investigation I noticed a small silver spring and the bolt release button on the concrete by my feet. The bolt release button has a small rod attached to it about 2" in length.*Upon further investigation it appears the the rod has literally broken off from something inside the rifle. The rod appears to have snapped, showing the course aluminum colored metal underneath the flat black Colour. I've attempted to disassemble the rifle by following the instructions provided with its purchase but have fallen into more hardships. The lever/push button that you manipulate to break apart the lower and upper receivers now also seized and will not budge. Please help me find someone in my area who can help me with this issue. If its not a warranty issue can you please recommend someone who is qualified in helping me fix this issue regardless? I live in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Kindly,

Ramonmark

I think it's a warranty issue. Do you have any pictures of the broken part?

You should contact the warranty team at Wolverine Supplies...

Back in the past, I had a few warranty issues with my XCR (I've supplied them pictures of the problems in my emails) and they were very fast to ship me a replacement part...

You can contact John Hipwell at john@wolverinesupplies.com

I had 3 issues with the XCR.

First, it was the Recoil Buffer pad which had to be changed because it was all worn out, even if I ran the gun on a Gas Level 2 (lowest). Maybe it was because of round count or cleaning oils or both.

Second issue I had, was with the bolt hold open which was starting to worn out on the tip.
It was not holding the bolt open properly and the smallest touch to the release button was closing the bolt. Even shaking the rifle too hard, when bolt was open, was closing it.

So they sent me a replacement pad for 9.50$ and a new Bolt Hold catch for 19.00$. Respectable prices. ;)

Received it in a few days... Nice service at Wolverine Supplies. :D

A few months laters, I had the third and last issue on my XCR, which was a broken firing pin (weird), which was covered by the warranty. They sent me a new one in a few days also!

If you're curious, here's what the firing pin looked like when it broke:

Sounds as though your bolt hold open snapped. On my XCR, I have gone through 2 of these, and I am now on my third. It apparently has to do with poor heat treating from Rob Arms part supplier, and the issue has allegedly been resolved. My third one is holding up steady.
Call/email John or Gunnar at Wolverine Supplies, kindly explain the situation, and they will have a new one in the mail for you extremely quickly.
When putting it back in, I have found that the screw which goes in the bottom MUST NOT be done up tightly. Instead, loctite must be used to hold it in place.

If you have any other questions, PM me!

If you're curious, here's what the firing pin looked like when it broke:

I had to order a new buffer pad as well. Just curious, did it withstand after you replaced it? Mine literally broke in half after 700-800 rounds.

Mine still in top shape after around 500 rounds.

I'm taking extra-care not to put cleaning solvant (Hoppes9) on it while cleaning rifle. I'm wiping down any excess of oil or solvant that could have dropped on the pad..

Ok thanks Ill keep that in mind. What suprises me is that it was still shooting perfectly even with half the buffer pad missing.

I'm wondering why Robinson Armament didn't made this buffer out of high density polyurethane for maximum shock-absorbing and solvent resistance...

Like the material of the aftermarket Ruger 1022 Bolt buffer tube mod:
