Short answer, no.

"Short Barrelled Shotgun" in the US, similar to a restricted firearm in Canada, but requiring a tax stamp and payment.

IIRC it's $5 for an SBS, but not being a new firearm transferred from the manufacturer is going to be an export problem.
 
No, my brother knows a fair amount about firearms, they weren't airsoft. (He's into airsoft as well) I'm thinking they were AR's that had a select fire switch, just with the full auto disabled, and walmart advertising wrong.

Nope.

They would neither have a selector, nor markings. I don't mean to "dis" your brother, but he is not correct.

No, the problem isnt the barrel length...its that the barrel is likely CUT DOWN...not manufactured at 14" from raw metal.

In Canada, shotgun barrels can be bought owned and sold as short as 8.5", and with a full stock, still be non-restricted. See Dlask and CanadaAmmo offerings for Rem870 pattern shotguns. HOWEVER...none of those short barrels are "factory chopped", they must be MADE at those short lengths, anything under 18.5".

If you want a short barrel shotgun in Canada, it's FAR cheaper and practical to simply buy a "Grizzly 870" from CanadaAmmo or some other retailer, for $299 Canadian. Or you can buy a Benelli Nova Tactical shorty (14"?), or the Fabarms shorties (14"?), or the Norc 8.5" 870... but to remain non-restricted, it needs to have an overall length of 26", meaning need to have buttstock on it, and can't be a semi-auto because short with semi means Restricted.

This way you also avoid American export laws complications!!
