Rem 870 Magpul Edition

Just bought a mint Wingmaster last week for $225. Sold the stock for $75 and the barrel for $100. Bought an unfired slug barrel for $80 (I prefer irons to ghost rings although I have both) and got one of the last wood police stock sets from Numerich for $75 shipped. Epps had Remington metal plus two extensions for $50 (I notice they are up in price now). So do the math. Receiver $50 Barrel $80 Stock $75 Extension $50. Thats $255 total. I ported the barrel at work this week and am going to teflon the whole works in the next week or so. Everybody oohs and aahs about the 870 p, yet there are wingmasters that are 40 even 50 yrs old and have had thousands of rounds thru them and are still chugging away. they just don't quit. Wingmasters come up on the EE almost every week, you just have to be quick. They are the best value you are going to get. You part out what you don't want and build it the way you want it, and the best thing is that the parts from a 50 yr old wingmaster fit the new ones and vice versa.

Totally agree. I have an old wingmaster and a 870P Max and I configured them to look virtually the same with the exception of 18" ported vs 14" non-ported barrel, pistol grip and no pistol grip stock. Nobody can tell the difference between the two and the old wingmaster is smoother than the P.

Only minus with an old wingmaster is you can't shoot 3" shells with it.

Gonna try to put some pictures soon (have to upload them)...

-the cerakote finish is perfect... the gun look so sweet!
-the magazine is the full length, so no extension at the end... hold 6 shell +1
-come with the magpul shotgun dvd, the nut for the magpul forend, 4 spacers for the stock.
-also in the box there was two riser for the stock (.50 and .75) and the remington trigger lock
-remington manual, magpul sticker and 2012 magpul catalog/poster

Gonna try to test it soon but I already love it!
With the mesa tactical side saddle il just look so badass!

Doubtful, that poster probably doesn't know what he's talking about...

Not sure which poster you are referring too...
But if the magpul edition has the new longer magazine tube it wont fit a regular 870 barrel for sure. Not sure why they started doing that now, I admit it looks pretty clean, but the ability to be switching barrel is a big plus.

I got the magpul stock and it cost me $109 over at amazon. paid $370 for my 870 tactical. I honestly dont think 800 bucks justifies a pump shotgun.

here we go...

On the end of the stock is the remington buttpad...

Did not know it came with the Remington buttpad and adaptor too.
Looks pretty good! But we can't really see the finish on it tho...

Seems to me you could add a +1 mag extension there but I'm still wondering why did Remington switched their mag tube lenght, forget about using a SBS barrel, or any length regular barrel for that matter... But whatever, should be a lot of fun :D congrats!

Thanks for pictures! That confirms that it isn't quite what was shown at the Shot Show or what I keep seeing all over Google. But it should be fun to say the least.

Those are the XS ghost sights that comes with the tactical 870 pictured on the first page of the thread. Not the ones shown on the Wanstalls website. With the side saddle is already not included, they should replace the photo with something more accurate.

This is what I mean, I thought the Remington Magpul 870 would have a short magazine capacity with an extension, LPA Ghost sites? and a metal trigger group. And a front ghost site that's similar to that of the 590A1 SPX. No I'd never expect it to come with the side saddle.

Just shot it yesterday... clay shot, 00buckshot and some slugs out of it... not much of it but just enough to test it.

Work just as it should, cycle like a pro and the remington supercell on the magpul stock really help on the recoil. Ghost sight are great to use!

10/10 for me :)
