NEA 14" modified heavy barrel - FAIL

Glad you're getting most of your money back. It would have been interesting if you had taken that barrel to your work and checked it out on other 870s.

They clearly have issues with these barrels yet they accept zero responsibility for fitment issues. It's got nothing to with them, your Remington must be out of spec. Who do they think they're kidding? So their products meet the Remington spec but Remington receivers don't?

How the hell do they know they meet Remington spec? Did Remington sell them the TDP for their barrels? Not a f**king chance. Wake up NEA, saying they're in spec isn't going to make them so, no matter how many times you say it.

Most of the gun we have at work are the old wingmaster/police type (they just say Remington 870 Magnum, both parked 18" and blued 20"). No way I was gonna force NEA's barrel in those. Wish I could have as it would have covered every possibility, I just couldn't risk it tho.

I noticed a slight hang at the ejector cut when I fitted the blued 20" to my receiver tho, minor resistance that's all. No mallet, no malfunction tho. I told Dave to have a look there on their barrel, might be where the problem is with their barrel and wingmaster receiver. Still, that's no excuse for the bolt wedging in, or the too tight fit.

I'll add a little more to this thread. Finally got a sight put on it and took it out today....................................a total of three rounds so far and more work needing to be done.

Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do?

heavy duty cleaning rod down the barrel and hit it out with a hammer.

Now you will need...

-Cordless drill
-cleaning rod
-12 ga. bore brush
-steel wool
-Oil

Put the cleaning rod with bore brush into the drill chuck and wrap the brush in the steel wool. Now soak the steel wool in oil and slide it into the chamber. Then use the drill to buff out the chamber until smooth.

Yikes I just noticed it was a live round...

I don't know, this is pretty bad. Can't be that uncommon tho, I'm sure someone here will know how to safely remove it. Try the gunsmithing forum maybe it'll be faster.

OK, now I'm glad with I went with the 12.5 Dominion barrel for mine. I never thought I'd say that.

Same here.
I didn't expect it to be "higher quality" than anything else available, and actually thought the NEA would be twice as good fit/finish wise, based on the cost.

I've never been so glad about my penny pinchin' ways. :)

You guys might as well join us and get the 12.5 from CanAm.
The finish isn't show quality, but it suits an 870 just fine, and most importantly, it fits and works.

I think I'll try the other guy before I go Chinese. Hopefully I get better luck with Dlask.
Unless a Remington factory magically appears...
