I bought myself a CSA VZ 58 in .223, works great with the original magazines, which are expensive, hard to find, and made of plastic. It also has a tabbed bolt carrier, out of the box, so zero gremlin issues.
Then the firing pin broke, they sent me a new one and some "goodies" under warranty, but it left a bad taste in my mouth . Wait, that may have been the rum.... It also ruined the thingummy (breech face, bolt face ??), which was also replaced.
They said the new firing pin was redesigned, but it looks the same to me
I installed the AR mag adapter with the 10 round mag. It works, but it doesn't work well enough to ever rely on it. It's a range toy. The action is too heavy for this set up, after all, it's designed for 7.62 steel case, not 223 brass.
The CZ in 7.62, on the other hand, is not as pretty, not as well machined, and not tabbed. However our buddy Broncoo can fix that. The metal mags are way better, the ammo is cheaper = more practice. WITH AN ADDED TAB, I would rely on this rifle in any situation. Also, berdan primed 7.62 is good to -50, is .223 ?
Scoping either of them is a white elephant, they are at their best with irons IMHO.
I like both, but I trust the 7.62. The best option, it seems to me, is the CSA 7.62, as it comes tabbed, but it is expensive, and hard to find. Im not sure if it takes bayonets.
Feel free to disagree !
