She let you get the PAL, You can borrow a gun when you hunt with one of your friends. In the meantime, go get a decent gun safe, and slowly start aquiring your guns and stashing them in the safe when she's not looking.... If she can't get into the safe, IMO it falls under the "What she can't see can't get you yelled at too badly

If you buy a safe to keep guns, then only licensed gun owners can have the combo to stay within safe storage regulations, so unless OP's wife gets her PAL then she can't see what is inside. ;)
 
I'll bet more than half the tough guys here talking s**t are the ones who give the wife an ear full of baby talk when they want something. :rolleyes:

Anyways, a few years ago my wife said the same thing. No biggie.
I says to Mrs 9,
"how bout we go to Timmies, get a coffee and head over to DVC (local rental range) so you can show me what part of shooting scares you." She reluctantly agreed. We went in, rented a .22 pistol and she watched me shoot ~20 rounds, then started asking me question about the gun. I knew I was in!!

We spent approx 2 hours shooting, made a little competition out if it, and had a great time.

It wasn't the gun that scared her, it was the unknown.

Long story short; we went home and had ###, and it was good. :D

Oh ya, now I have guns.

As far as cojones, mine are plenty big enough, thanks. I'm retired and gave up needing to prove that kind of crap to other people years ago. The old girl and I have been todether for awhlle now, and just "harden the f^€£up and go buy a gun" is not how it works. I don't know about your wives/gfs but I bet there aren't that many of you who could "honestly" say that is how you act. In any case, I was looking for that very rare thing, insight into the female mind. My bet is that she is afraid of the guns and what they could get used for. I like the idea of getting her to take the CFSC and then apply for her own PAL.
So thanks for your help. In a day or two I'll see if I can see what bug is under her saddle.

Just ask her to sign the papers to get the license, worry about buying the guns after you get the paper work done.. Just cause you have a license doesn't mean your buying a gun.
 
do what i did ... buy gun ... bring home .... show her ... she will freak ... tell her "ii told you i was getting this gun" ... she will no you didnt .... then you "you never listen to what i say" (sound familiar ??). then kinda apologize but always stickin to your story ... then insist she shoot it with ... im 4 for 4 ... minda the 9 mm was a tougher sell ... buy she shoots it with me. key is buy one she will like and can shoot!!!

first one ... 22-250 xbolt ss c/w fluted barrel and a swaroski scope
next ... brownibg hp mk III 9mm
next ... browning o/u 12 gauge
she shoots all three ... and enjoys it ... she considers the 22-250 her fun
lastly ... browning maxus 12 gauge rifled ... she doesnt want to shoot this one ... and best she doesnt ... shes fairly petite

Horrible advice!! If she is willing to divorce and you have lots of guns, she gets half of them!! Or half what they are worth.....or half of what she thinks they are worth :D

Good luck Red! Try and convince her to go out plinking sometime, many people have been converted after a little time in a gravel pit with a 22 and some pop cans.
 
try takin her shooting, if that doesnt work, the next expenditure she brings up, agree to it then when final prep time comes, change ur mind like she did, when she flips, ask her how she likes it, do to her what she did, atleast if u still dont get a gun, mayb she'll atleast think twice next time

Holy Sh*t that was so funny I nearly pissed myself, and made so much sense at the same time (especially the last part) lol!!!

It's true, and it's not only about guns. Some women like to be controlling, like really controlling. My wife is somewhat like yours, I had to really pull my balls out of my anus and tell my wife that the guns are coming and there's nothing she can do.

Of course, this sounds macho and tough... but I did end up spending money on her too. Get something for her, make her feel good in any way possible ;) wink wink;) and gifts, she will feel bad for not letting you get what you want when you got what she wanted.

trust me. it will work.
 
In all seriousness, ask her what she is willing to give up.
It will throw her off her game, and she might not mention this again.
 
find out what's bugging her about guns and work it out. mine wasn't into allowing them in the house either and she took the course with me. Once she realized it was not like the states where you can have a gun in the night stand and I told her the safe would be hidden from the kids, she let up. two years later I have two big honking safes full with some of her pistols too.
 
sometimes (many times), you have to treat women like "special" children, they're very emotionally charged, and that's how they make decisions. It's a challenge, but you can win this one.
