Tavor anyone's thoughts?

Not really warming up to the look of it, but I would like to try one.

Saw one at the range not too long ago and really should have asked to give it a try. :)

I'm 6'1" and fully extend the stock on my Noveske - how is the Tavor ergonomically for taller people?

It feels perfect for me. I had to get a taller mount for my eotech though. 6'2"

9 pages of comments, and still no one has committed to anything re. accuracy? Lack of accuracy is my greatest concern with this rifle. I can not get the Tavor to group better than several MOA with both PMC 62 gr and Winchester white box 55 gr. For now, I blame the trigger which is unbelievably heavy. It is possible that there are other causes, but until the trigger issue is resolved, we really won't be able to diagnose additional issues.

Is anyone aware of any after market products that could help solve this trigger issue?

Second biggest concern is sight over bore height. You are looking at a hefty offset for close quarters shooting, which is odd for a system that was purportedly designed for close quarters. The trigger problem also impacts close quarters shooting. There is no way that it can be manipulated as quickly as a tuned AR (or even an untuned AR), so shooting will be slower at close quarters.

Otherwise, I am quite impressed with the rifle. Ergonomics are fantastic, so I don't understand that criticism. It requires a completely different set of handing drills vice the AR, but the ergonomics are very well thought out.

I have a bit of a weird body setup. I am 6'2", but with short legs and a longer torso and longer arms. Mine fits me perfectly, as well as the fitting the miriad of people I have let handle and fire it. A woman I know is 5'0" and she held it perfectly, as well as my friend who is 6'9".

Both of them have never fired a firearm in their lives and both were consistantly hitting a 10 rd, 5-6 inch group at 50 yds.

I know that isn't impressive by many standards here, but from never pulling a trigger to getting that grouping in about 5 minutes isn't bad if you ask me.

I have never fired a Tavor but I have shouldered one at TSE. I found the LOP too short and would have liked a couple of extra inches on the stock. Maybe it's something you get used to but it's not something I'd like to pay $2500 for to find out.

It can really be a love-or-hate thing for some. I'm medium build, and the LOP always felt great for me.

I'll let you know when I get a chance to take mine out (been waiting for the registration certificate). The shorter barrel is apparently a tack driver from everyone I've talked to... I know you can 'adjust' the trigger by removing one of the springs, but that can also (apparently) make it more susceptible to releasing if it's dropped, etc.

I understand what you're saying with sight over bore hight, but it's not that much more than say a piston setup (although certainly more than a standard DI). I've got a low profile rail on mine which has reduced it by maybe 1/4-5/8".

I can certainly appreciate that. The ability to add some spacers would certainly change things up.

One more thing: the Tavor is going to be released in the US sometime this fall. In short order there should be a deluge of aftermarket add-ons available. Hopefully a new trigger package is chief amongst these.

Has anybody else figured out that you can remove the knob in the handgrip and theres storage there?

I put my AA batteries in there for my eotech.

I bought one, put about 1500 rounds through it. It wasn't anything special... That being said I have been thoroughly disappointed with and gun I have spent mor then 2k on. Tavor, xcr, hk

The pointability wise the tavor wins it all. If u have a chance try this: Shoulder the rifle, turn around 90deg, 180 degree, shoulder in and out. compare the tavor with an 16" AR. U will feel the big difference. Not to mention a 20"ar or Swiss. I have all these to compare and I can tell u the tavor can aim the quickest with the least effort. That is one of the biggest advantage of bullpup, I think.
Btw tavor is a long piston.
