True Story,

Co-worker of mine wants to get his wife into shooting.
"No way" - says she. "Shooting paper targets of people......" (You know the rest).
Hubby comes to me and says "I know she will like it once she tries it but......"
"Let me sleep on it".
Time passes............
One day we are shooting the breeze (notice gun metaphor?) and he mentions she loves this dog of theirs and would do anything to keep it safe. Bing (light bulb goes off somewhere in the back of my head).
Next time I am at friends place I present tactical zombie T-shirt to her.
"Oh - I love Zombie stuff" says she. "You need to get trained to protect <insert dog name here> in the event of a zombie apocalypse" says I (with straight face).
During the next range date - friends wife joins us (Sporting her fine Canadian Undead National Team T-shirt - snicker).
Started out with .22 handgun - advanced to 9mm pistol - capped off the night (sic) with short barreled 12 Ga. She only tried 5 rounds as they really rocked her - she but was willing to give it a try as a last ditch effort to "protect" the dog (go figure). During the entire session the target of choice was various official (wait for it) "zombie" targets.
Turns out she is a natural with handguns. Combined with female instincts to protect their young (in this case a 4 footed furry variety) she had no qualms about ventilating the humanoid target as it wasn't "real".
Do I understand it - ('H' - 'e' - double hockey sticks) - No. Did it work - You betcha. Best darn marketing ploy get new shooters.
Bring em on says I.
The end.

Most people get the joke/inference, and don't take it that seriously... For those that do perceive this as an insult, maybe Airsoft is more their speed...

I was just raised where being polite came first...that is all. I am not into clown themed ### but to I insult or in your words "joke" about them. No I do not...

You let too much that doesn't concern you bother you and it comes off immature, childish and unstable on your part. The Liberals do this too.

stockpile ammo in anticipation of "Z-day" and people say "thats cool", buy say your doing it because you fear the chinese someday invading and people think your a crazy militia racist wingnut.

So which zombie accessories do you all own then? ;)

A couple walking dead t shirts, a few comics...although I usually DL them instead and a Dawn of the Dead (original) poster. Pretty over the top I know...I DEF should go into airsoft as I do not deserve the honnor of real guns.

I could reply to this about a hundred different ways :D :nest:

Regardless.. It was a good marketing ploy as previously stated. Even some of the "Zombie Shoots" stateside looked interesting in the begining, but it's time to bury the "un-dead"

I believe the zombie thing is simply a product of a lack of a common real enemy. WWII is long over so no Germans to hate, the Cold War is over so no Commies to hate, and now we the war on terror but it would be quite faux-pas (and down-right racist / ignorant) to hate all Arabs. So now we have Zombies. We buy or toys and play with them and know full-well that "black rifles" are combat rifles that have been designed to kill people but this is taboo and we don't talk about this. Read any of these blogs were Joe Smith has an awesome AR or whatever to fend off Zombie hordes, all they are really saying is they have a rifle that is capable of killing many people. Think about it, replace the word "zombie" with "person" and voila.

It all comes down to "de-humanization" a term psychologist and sociologists use when explaining the process a person goes through while preparing themselves to kill other people. If you don't see your enemy as another equal human being it is easier to destroy them. That is why wars has spawned so many terms; towel heads, gooks, japs, Jerrys, yanks, etc.

I agree completely with the above.....We feel way better imagining shooting Zombies than we would other people.

I like talking about it in a joking way, but these products with green neon and zombie gimmicks have got to go. Zombie ammo, are you kidding me, this novelty s**t is a joke, otherwise, I enjoy and will continue referring to any and all SHTF scenario's as a zombie attack

If it sells, bring more into the shooting world, why not. Business is business. Is this zombie craze taking away from the normal shooter, if so then it should die.

I have never bought a single zombie related firearm or accessory. Period.

.

Ummmmm yeah....yeah ya did.
