So here we were teaching CQB style shooting across the country this summer when I realized that in this position, the standard/typical/factory length buttstock can be challenging:

You can try this at home... Just ensure your rifle is unloaded and you are resting ON your STRONG shoulder.

I found the USGI glass stock (many of you know I love this stock upgrade) was a little too long and interfering with the shoulder positioning. So here comes the ICR Ingram Custom Rifleworks CQB stock that Thomas made up using his own design and carbon fiberglass (right term?) magic....

Out of the box, here it is ready for your AR carbine buffer tube. Mine came from Questar and so did the Magpul Koolaid...

Notice the AR15 pistol grip adapter and this comes with a bolt that used a 3/16" Allen key. What I really liked about this design is the use of the existing Chinese black plastic stock from my shorty. I sent it to him in BC and another $ 275 to cover the conversion and mailing back to me.

Here is a close up of the adapter and buffer tube interface. Very solid. No play whatsoever. Very smooth and effortless install!

Have a look at the interior of the horseshoe tang... Very well finished.

I put aside a Magpul MOE pistol grip in FDE. Then I discovered the interface/mating surfaces for the rear of the backstrap would have been a bit on the goofy looking side. Have a gander. So I grabbed my Magpul MIAD grip kit from my Armalite M15 instead...

And here is the MIAD grip... see how it matches the CQB stock a bit better... I left the other backstrap just to show the goofy curved interface.

Now here is a close up of the MIAD grip with the flat backstrap...

The rifle dropped straight into the stock without any surprises (I did not expect any at all) since it was a Norc factory black plastic stock. Some other advanced design stocks require quite a bit of wrenching around and being the match rifle tweaker (I'm not a gunsmith) that I am, I tend to avoid any of those super cool looking aluminum platforms.

Have a gander at the front end of the stock. I love the sling plate screws that Thomas uses... and then he installed a QD stud at the front. I'm impressed.

So what did everything cost me?

* ICR CQB stock $ 275 (after sending IN your existing black plastic Norc stock)
* Magpul CTR buttstock, commercial $ 129 at Questar
* Commercial sized AR carbine 6 position tube $ 30 at Questar
* Magpul MIAD grip in FDE $ 35 at Questar

One could cut costs by using a typical AR carbine 6 position stock instead of Magpul Koolaid, not to mention the standard A2 grip which anyone of us can find these on the EE Forums here.

Now I just gotta take a final picture of my Zombie M14 Shorty....

or my go-to truck gun for my manly (or girly) Toyota Rav4... yuk yuk yuk

Cheers, and I hope you guys can feed the addiction.

Nice one Barney...:) Looks very purposeful.
And thanks for takin the time to post pics.......I now have a cunning plan and a box full of old Tapco crap.

Love it, I can see one of these in my future. Is CQB season over Hungry? If not PLEASE shoot the next match with this rifle!

ICR or 45acpking is off the grid for hunting season at the moment. His bench is closed for the time being but I do know CQB and other stocks are still being made by his extra help!

MauserGdog, I would love to shoot a CQB match with this unit, but the next CQB7 match is the championship and I have to get pumped about giving the Multicam Kommandos a run for the money... :D

Should have my Glock 17 by then.... If not the STI 9mm single stack will get the nod!

I was lifting the new rifle stock, and it's almost as heavy as the existing black plastic stock but without the steel buttplate assembly. I just like the new size. Tonight, it's time to do some parade square drill with this M14 that has the same profile as my beloved C1A1 4L6178 from PPCLI Battle School in Wainwright. :D

Ah the good old 7.62mm IVI ball ammo days! All I could shoot! FREE ! Hold on ... I was getting PAID to shoot this rifle!

Cheers,
Barney

So are you saying that with the extra wieght from the buffer tube/colsible stock assembely plus pistol grip ends up the same wieght as it was in orignal state but with way more versitility?
Say it ain't so.

I don't have access to a scale or bathroom scale so I cannot really say so. What I can say is that this baby is nice and short for the tactical gun cases now and sit nicely across yer quad handle bars.

Before anybody accuses me of being a "Shill" or "Schill" for M14doctor, I PAID for this stock so I ain't getting anything for free to become some 'fanboy'. It's mine and only mine. This stock is my own carry stock for the vehicle (one day I will own a pickup truck like a REAL Man!). :D

Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!

I am also very happy with my m14s-CQB stock.

I have used it quite a bit now for almost a year and am thinking of painting it. Any suggestions on paint brand that's durable enough?
