Just recently aquired a Savage 99c in .308. This is the first rifle, lever or bolt, I have come accross that you cannot release the trigger by holding down the trigger while closing the action. i.e. when you've armed the action and just want to un-#### the trigger/firing pin in a non firing situation. In this case, when I hold the trigger down, I can lever the action closed (with a little "stiffness") and then the trigger releases with a snap or, no different than dry-firing. I don't really want to dry fire it each time, but if I have to so be it. I have two other Savage internal rotary mag style rifles and decocking is not a problem with them.
My question - is this the way it is with the 99c? or should I take it apart and investigate?
Thanks - in advance
